ACTION 02 Demand transparency in communication and decision making from The Supervisor 03 Tell the Supervisor, the Minister, Your MPP how your school community and/or your child(ren) are impacted by the disruption of reorganization this year. 04 Ask "How will reorganizations that are not associated with enrollment changes be prevented in future to ensure stability for children and staff?" WHAT CAN PARENTS & CAREGIVERS DO? ACTION 05 Demand to reinstate trustees as they are our local, democratically elected representatives. In a typical year, Trustees would be integral to minimizing disruption to learning during the reorg process through meeting with superintendent and principals and advocating for the unique needs of individual schools. WHAT IS REORGANIZATION AND WHY IS IT SO DISRUPTIVE THIS YEAR? The reorganization process happens every year in September to balance the actual enrollment numbers against the projected numbers from the spring. This year seems to be particularly disruptive as it appears the needs of individual schools and students have not been taken into account in the process and the board has been forcing schools to make changes based purely on numbers rather than the unique circumstances of each school. In a typical year, trustees meet with superintendents and school representatives and advocate for the schools' needs on an individual basis. It is within the power of the board to maintain staff to reduce disruption. Trustees also communicate changes and decision making processes to schools, school councils, parents and caregivers.
