This is what its all about, isn’t it? Teaching and learning how to fail well.

The field should do this much better and louder.

It makes a huge difference to know, not just assume, that everyone - even those we consider the best in the field - get rejections just like we do.

Every academic career is built on rejection, but we don’t show it.
 CVs list publications, grants & awards, not rejected manuscripts, unfunded proposals, or failures.
 But those invisible rejections shape us more than our successes ever do.

Oh I had that with UPS a few weeks ago and instead of “taking it” I did what I almost never do and called the service line. I was polite but firm that I will not be taking another day away from the office to wait around for this parcel and an hour later it was delivered.

The last 13 living Israeli hostages have reportedly been transferred to the ICRC.

Meanwhile, videos of Hamas beating & executions of Gazan "collaborators" keep pouring out of the Strip.

Unless Hamas is permenantly defanged as req by the ceasefire agreement, this will remain the norm.

They haven’t even completed phase 1 which we’ve been at before and phase 2 never happened. The headlines back home are all bananas, renaming building and other stupid things. Rename whatever you want when there’s actual peace. Its almost like the show is all that matters, wouldn’t you say?
