Peeling off/stuck on "You could have asked me for help sooner," Rielle says, just loud enough to get her point across with a chastising edge. It's a delicate line that she treads between adequately expressing her concern, and not further wounding the very same pride that had kept him from approaching her in the first place, but she likes to think that she has grown more adept at it through experience. Sidurgu winces as she peels off another patch of brittle and desiccated scales from his back, revealing a fresh layer that will just as quickly lose its luster after being subjected to the frigid Coerthan climate. Religious doctrine is only one aspect of Ishgardian life that is antithetical and hostile to his very existence; a demoralizing reality that he is subjected to whenever his molt invariably comes around, and what should be an easy shed and opportunity for bonding with his tribesmen instead becomes a drawn out and painful process. "I know," Sidurgu concedes, the muscles in his back tensing as Rielle removes a particularly stubborn scale with a quiet apology. She looks at the faded remnants of Fray's work on the exposed skin of Sidurgu's back, a tapestry of patch jobs dutifully performed by a hand that could break a man just as easily as put one back together, and wonders just how many times he has had to learn this very lesson.

the beginning of the comic depicts a wordless interaction between missy and thancred. set in one of their apartments late arr, seemingly mundane, affectionate. missy is shirtless folding fresh clothes on the couch as thancred prepares their morning tea. she slips his black tunic on in a coy attempt at preventing him from leaving, hugging him from behind to get him to notice. when he does, he playfully grabs her and lifts her onto the countertop, pinning her hand up against the cabinet to take it off of her. he buries his face into the crook of her neck, she laughs and cradles his head, and then the echo abruptly cuts off. missy is seen gasping awake to the sound of knocking, laid in a moonlit bed with tears in her eyes.
