Ananda Lewis' death makes me so sad and mad because it didn't have to happen so young. Homeopathy does not treat or cure breast cancer. She was misled by the pervasive misinformation around health and it cost her lief itself.

Nothing like being told to stop “being slaves” by a white woman at a #qualitative research conference.

Casually using slavery metaphors is not about “good intentions/ poor wording.” These words some of you apparently think are neutral carry centuries of pain, kidnapping, torture, rape, and erasure.

The CDC is forcing researchers to retract/revise work based on politically “forbidden” terms. This threatens public health + academic freedom. We need journal editors to uphold integrity, universities to protect faculty, funders to defend scientific inquiry, and org leaders to recognize the stakes.
BREAKING NEWS: CDC orders mass retraction and revision of submitted research across all science and medicine journals. Banned terms must be scrubbed.

Goes beyond MMWR +other CDC pubs. Applies to research already submitted to top medical journals.

Take a look.

Universities do little to support PhDs who leave academia
More than half of those who earn Ph.D.s now decide to leave academia after graduation. Why, then, do so many graduate programs still assume their students will become professors?
