En Twitter se normalizó amenazar de muerte y organizar campañas de acoso contra los epidemiólogos. Y cuando duermes 2-3 horas al día (en 2020), lo llevas regular, pero reportabas y seguías. Algunas cuentas las bloqueaban, otras paraban, y la mayoría seguían. Las ocultabas y seguías.

Okay, done. I've captured the leprosy genomes out of the aDNA pathogen database that Sikora et al. pub'd in July. As they noted in their own analysis, it's now been well documented that leprosy was circulating in N Europe thruout the Middle Ages, & seems to have been tied to trade in squirrel skins.

Because M. leprae can infect both red squirrels and humans[35], and archaeological evidence demonstrates that fur trade from Scandinavia, including squirrel fur, increased substantially during the late Iron and Viking Ages[36], our results support the suggestion that squirrel fur trade could have facilitated transmission[37]. Countries’ capacity to deal with such outbreaks of viral haemorrhagic fever have increased a lot in recent years. But these outbreaks are always dangerous and when a country has never had to deal with one (Ethiopia has not had a Marburg or Ebola outbreak) people are extra nervous.

In recent years we have seen more Marburg outbreaks and in new places. It’s unclear to me how much of this is more spillover happening and how much is better detection of outbreaks. Both probably play a role but how much is the question…

No puede ser. No puede ser que esté habiendo semejante retahíla de incidentes de seguridad del paciente. Esto no puede pasar. Ya sabemos cómo está el tema de las Unidades de Programas Poblacionales de Cribado, ¿pero no son conscientes de todas las reclamaciones que acarrea? bsky.app/profile/clar...
