Am I missing something here? Doesn’t the reopening of government now compel Johnson to swear in the new Democrat that would swing the vote on releasing the Epstein Files? It all seems to have gone very quiet.

It’s no intended criticism of the player himself, who is an undoubted talent, but Liverpool spending around £100million on Wirtz and inserting him into their midfield, seems to have had the effect of dropping a bag of sand into an engine that was previously purring wonderfully.

If, as seems increasingly likely to be the case, Johnson is only maintaining the shutdown to avoid the 218th, and decisive, vote on releasing the Epstein files, isn’t he only confirming that it’s something that he - or his boss - is terrified of becoming public? Is there any other plausible reason?

Has Starmer got the bottle to declare that “Reform = Brexit and Brexit is, not only a disaster, but the prime cause of the country’s economic and social woes.” And set the agenda for the next GE in those terms from today. Not only would win in a landslide, he’d decide Green and LibDem support too!
