I’ve seen the line that AI will lead to a UBI more than once so taking the time to call bullshit.

Are overseas megacorps going to fund it through higher local taxes? Utterly implausible. Will government fund it? With whose money?

AI is not the answer to inequality: I expect it’ll make things worse

Money for everyone an option as AI opens the door for basic income

COVID showed just how "fragile" our economic security is. As artificial intelligence potentially takes jobs from humans, a universal basic income might be a solution.

A new report shows that a bunch of renewable energy companies have massively improved their human rights record. This is good! And important!

It is something that must be addressed for the energy transition to be sustained at a high pace over the coming decades.

The 2025 edition, released on Wednesday, shows that “the renewables sector is making significant progress on embedding human rights into its operations, despite the challenging environment created by adverse government policies (notably in the USA), high interest and inflation costs”.

The reports authors put this down to two factors. First, a recognition among the companies that rampant human rights abuses in the renewable sector will only slow down the transition and weaken their businesses. And pre-emptive company policy change in advance of new European Union regulations.

Yes, separate from existing funding. The current funding is on a small scale that helps at most a handful of publishers in a year. What they have in Canada is much broader and more comprehensive system
