hello consider this a reminder, in case people missed it last week, that I've launched a new quarterly night in London called the Outsiders Arts Club where people will be able to buy great affordable art and ask dumb questions to an art professional: outsidersartsclub.com

thanks, bye

I onced lived with a good kiwi friend and happened to ask her the time at 9.50am which she pronounced "tin to tin".
I am insurferable and made a point of casually ask her the time at 9.50am whenever I could, to which I got the reply "tin to... b@stard! you got me agin!"

Were Pink Floyd talking about The UK's Brexit negotiaition strategy when they sang that "hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way..."

I think it maybe dangerous to read too much intent in to what EM does - yes he sometimes does long term strategic planning, but he can also be very erratic. Exhibit A: Buying Twitter.

Exhibit A at my school also lacked the physical stuff and is now a 999 dispatcher in a call centre. I don’t for sure but suspect he may also be Territorial Army at weekends

Anecdotally at my school the people you describe gravitated to the cadets and considered careers in the forces but some went to the police.

Not what OP was getting at but true some 1st/2nd gen Brits thought it unfair that EU people could come to the UK easily where as rest of the world couldn’t - I had some otherwise liberal friends who took this view and even believed Brexit might improve things for their preferred source country.

fair point - I have a Canadian friend (with a UK passport) who voted Brexit as she thought it was unfair that EU people could come here easily but Canadians had to jump through hoops. I pointed out that Brexit would just make it sh1t for more people which isn’t an improvement but twas too late..

Interesting- can’t say I ever picked up any alienation vibes except from the Reformy types and/or people that live outside of London and read those tiresome stories of how it has become ‘Londonistan’ and you don’t hear English on the tube anymore etc etc

A tour of PFI projects (most of which come to the end of the 25 year finance periods over the next few years) to see how well they cope with the handback from private to public ownership (or possible not).

If you call up the bully companies they will tell you all of the weasel excuses that the councils use to avoid doing this thing that would massively support EV adoption and clean air goals (and pedestrian safety) - people will just charge with trailing cables otherwise or block pavements.. 2/2

@london.gov.uk I was very pleased to read about gov guidance for installing EV charging gullies in scenarios where people park kerbside by their home. But I was very disappointed to learn that my local (Labour controlled) Lewisham council doesn’t allow this: www.londoncouncils.gov.uk/news-and-pre...
