I couldn't agree more.
Rob Reiner, at worst, should have won the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. At best, he should have received an honorary Oscar.
It's possible he turned it down multiple times, but this should be rectified.

Few filmmakers left more of a cultural mark. Through his movies and activism his work blurred the lines between art and popular culture, aiming to make art accessible to everyone and using his visibility to inspire action on important issues. Goodnight Rob Reiner, you were an original.
