For anyone wondering, the reason I’m doing this is because I’ve studied archaeology for years and there’s a weird air around American texts that makes it out like you’re not supposed to read them unless you’re some specialist. However, I think knowing what’s there is a worthy drive on its own.

Other Mixtec codices of note:
Codex Waecker-Gotter
Codex Colombino-Becker
Codex Vindobonensis Mexicanus I
Codex Bodley
Codex Selden

One major problem with studying the ancient writings of America is that none of them are named like “the mythology of Oaxaca” or anything that makes sense. They get named “The Paris Codex,” “The Codex Nuttall,” & “The Dresden Codex”
Names come from current collections and not sources.

I’m gonna explore some meso-American archaeology lit soon. This means the Popol-vuh, Mixtec Codices, Maya Codices, other inscriptions of Americans, ancient and modern.
