A superb concert by the Dudok Quartet from Amsterdam last night - including my favourite Schubert ‘Death and the Maiden’ plus some lovely Brahms, Liszt ‘Via Crucis’, Mussorgsky ‘Songs and Dances of Death’, beautiful Carlo Gesdualdo and some rather tricky Kaija Saariaho @musicintheround.bsky.social

Refugees could have jewellery or other valuables taken to pay for the costs of processing their cases, a Home Office minister has said, in another detail of changes to migration policy likely to cause worries among Labour MPs.

I went to see Kae Tempest in Manchester last night and it was the most life-affirming wonderful show. He never stopped - so many words - and then he performed all the poems again. Reduced to tears. Jacob Alon was amazing too - utter vulnerability. First gig at the Albert Hall is one I’ll remember.

After submitting a FOIA request UKRI, I obtained success rates by three grant call scheme and I can only say that I am disheartened by the results:

Are there any architects on here, or generally people who know what the feature on the bottom left of this image is. A sort of drainage archway perhaps? It’s on a Victorian former grammar school building with lots of similar holes! Many thanks.
