I consumed a number of foods stored overnight at hotel room temperature and humidity including some veggies, a Woolies fruit salad and some slices of pizza. My bet is on the fruit salad.

Home, feeling simultaneously energised and exhausted by a weekend at PAX, and surviving a brief bout of food poisoning.

(Yes it happened; hubris was my downfall. Please know I am now filled with an obnoxiousness that comes only from having cheated death and have learned nothing from the experience)

Sadly, the parents haven’t been around for a day or two. I spotted an egg in the nest this morning but this afternoon I looked out and it had fallen out. The ants noticed much quicker than I did 😭

Meanwhile the other tables have the toum and we helplessly point at them until we get the right thing.

Anyway, I’ll be using this bracket as reference from now on to look it up from.

It endlessly frustrates me that my family collectively cannot remember the name of toum whenever we eat at our usual Afghan joint and when we ask for the “garlic sauce” they bring out a different yoghurt based one.

Pigeon update:
They stopped using the nest for the week after I posted this and I got worried they were abandoning it, but then they settled back in and there’d been one on near permanent nest duty for the last fortnight.
