We've been getting some confusion regarding some recent changes happening with the labeler, specifically people being added to lists out of the blue, so here's an update that we hope should clarify things.

As always, this labeler is for all of you, so let us know if you run into any issues. 😊

A bit more on this. We now believe that:

- It depends on which PDS the viewing account is located.
- It's transient, as in, it eventually syncs up with time.

Additionally:

It ALSO happens when we remove a label. It keeps showing for hours or days before eventually disappearing for everyone.
We are seeing a new problem with the labeler. We have no idea if it affects other labelers, but we're wondering if it has anything to do with the temporary suspension that happened on the account.

Basically, labels stop showing for SOME people.

Example for this post here:

bsky.app/profile/did:...
This is a test post for the labeler. It should show the label "AI-informative" on it.

It has been generated using Google's Gemini, using the prompt "Generate an image which is a simple horizontal gradient from blue to red."

Send a report in using the standard report system, and write in the notes that is an appeal and why you are appealing it. We'll get the message 😊
We have block/mute lists too if you want to cut out the middle man.
Looks that is related to a previous pfp, so we'll go ahead and remove that for you
Thank your for your patience, the issue has been resolved.
We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties, please bear with us until those can be resolved. At the moment we are unable to accept reports or add new labels.

We will do our best to fix this issue as soon as possible.
We just updated the FAQ. Apologies for the oversight.
We do our best, but we are only human 😅

Thanks for letting us know.

We are currently changing the way our mute lists function, so you were inadvertantly notified during our migration process. The label was added to your account earlier this month. It doesn't appear to be AI now, so we went ahead and removed it for you, which will also remove you from the list.
We are currently changing the way our mute lists function, so you were inadvertantly notified during our migration process. The label was added to your account in March. Because you've changed it since then, we went ahead and removed it for you, which will also remove you from the list.
We are currently changing the way our mute lists function, so you were inadvertantly notified during our migration process. The label was added to your account in January of this year. Since you've changed it since, we went ahead and removed it for you, which will also remove you from the list.

The mute lists are actively tied to the labels. If you don't have the label you aren't on the mute list.

We are actually in the process of breaking down our large, inclusive mute list into smaller discrete mute lists, which is probably why you saw it show up.
It looks like the AI-Avatar label was applied in February. We would have to do more research as to why you were again notified today, but in any case we've gone ahead and removed it for you.
Also: feel free to appeal any previously labeled posts for which you feel this label might be applicable.
After recieving frequent requests we have created a new label category: AI-Informative. With this label you can continue to use the AI Image labeler without missing reports ABOUT AI usage that may be relevent to you. If you wish to continue seeing no AI at all make sure to update your settings.
Seems the label referred to an image you used last year and no one ever reported to us that it had changed. We've gone ahead and removed the label for you.
The issue should be resolved. We looked into it last night, it seemed to be related to an icon you were using before. We also double checked the mute list to make sure you were cleared from that as well. Thanks for reaching out to us about it!
Once subscribed you can choose to hide or show labels on AI images and users.
Good question! In short, you subscribe to the labeler and then when you see an AI image or user you report it using the standard report function, but select the AI imagery labeler when given the option of where to report it.

Thanks for letting us know, and especially for providing us the image source. We do unfortunately make mistakes sometimes, since reports are all handled by humans, but we try to fix them as fast as possible when they do happen.
Nine correct out of twenty, with five not sure :)
No worries! Though if you want to know your score we can do that 😉
