I am one of the volunteer moderators of @aimod.social. Feel free to engage if you have questions or wish to discuss labelling rationales. DMs are open, and will be regularly monitored. We're friendly!
Hey @pluppin.bsky.social, would you mind terribly initiating a DM with me since yours aren't open at the moment?
This method of appealing is only for the owner of the account. If you want to appeal on behalf of someone else, you just report the account to us again, writing an explanation about why you think the label should be removed.

Reported accounts that already have a label will behave as appeals.
In the future, you should file an appeal following our FAQ, this is a lot more streamlined for us.

The label was applied about a year ago, when the profile had a different set of pictures.

I have removed the label.
I'll add I was the one to receive the report a few days ago.

I was like "W-What?! Biscuit?! No fucking way."
In the case of that extra finger, if you look closely, it's a copy-paste of the one next to it. It's basically a pixel-per-pixel copy of the same curve. Noticed by another team member.
We've seen cases where people are posting "start to finish" processes from Procreate, where they are drawing like a CNC printer, perfect line art from the get-go, one line stopping right where the next one will cross.

Note that you can hide layers in Procreate when doing a time-lapse recording.
So, there IS something for this that's being adopted slowly but surely: contentauthenticity.org

It's a cryptographic watermark embedded deep in pictures. Even cameras.

I am personally cautiously optimistic this can have a real positive impact on the problems we are facing at the moment. We'll see.

To reiterate what we have in our FAQ: we take accusations of AI assistance very seriously, and we usually spend a lot of time as a team to dissect the proofs and material given to us. And we also tend to err on the side of caution.

A "maaaaaaaaybe?" wouldn't warrant a label.

Very time consuming.
Hah, thanks. We didn't think to look at the hues there. I guess this is now something we ALSO have to look for: doctored pictures to make them look like gen-AI.

Great.

As if we didn't have a lot of work to do already.
It turns out it's heavily delayed: bsky.app/profile/anti...
A bit more on this. We now believe that:

- It depends on which PDS the viewing account is located.
- It's transient, as in, it eventually syncs up with time.

Additionally:

It ALSO happens when we remove a label. It keeps showing for hours or days before eventually disappearing for everyone.
We are seeing a new problem with the labeler. We have no idea if it affects other labelers, but we're wondering if it has anything to do with the temporary suspension that happened on the account.

Basically, labels stop showing for SOME people.

If such a lag exists when propagating labels across PDS, then third party moderation labels will only be relegated to being gimmicks that can't really be trusted.

While this may be a good technical decision, I don't think it's a good user experience one.

Please consider investigating, @bsky.app.
I can appreciate the need for the throttling of the synchronization of labels from an infrastructure's perspective, to avoid overwhelming the network, if that's what's happening here.

But then it makes the third party moderation system fairly moot for urgent and important matters.
Many people are now depending on our labels to identify what is ai-generated from what's real.

Not being instant, and not having a consistent appview between users diminishes the credibility of the moderation system, in case of breaking news or similar time-sensitive event.
This used to be instant, but something changed with Bluesky. Label changes now propagate very slowly, and without consistency between PDS.

This honestly isn't ideal, because in a rapidly evolving world, having a proper third party moderation system that can react instantly is crucial.

This is a test post for the labeler. It should show the label "AI-informative" on it.

It has been generated using Google's Gemini, using the prompt "Generate an image which is a simple horizontal gradient from blue to red."
We don't know. We're trying to understand the patterns for a proper bug report.
If people can spread the word, and report here whether or not they can see the label, and where, it'd be useful.

Thank you for your help!
We don't know how widespread the issue is, but this is definitely a very problematic bug. We don't know if it affects other labelers. We don't know how to solve it ourselves.

We'll need @bsky.app's help on this one. We're going to try filing a bug for it, but we need a bit more data.
It seems to happen on desktop browsers, on mobile phones, everywhere, for the same exact set of accounts, so it seems related to the account, not to the application or the machine used, but we've also had reports internally that it may also change from one machine to another.

This is really weird.
We discussed amongst the team. Everyone is having the same issue. All of our "old" main accounts are showing the label properly. All of our newer alt accounts aren't.

We tried various things like unsubscribing and resubscribing, changing settings, clearing caches, to no avail.
On this account, and on my NSFW account, this is what I see. The label is just completely missing.
On my main account, this is what I see. The label is properly applied, and everything's fine.
