From the NOVA ProductTank meeting in 2018, our team built a winning bridge! It was some serious fun, don't be fooled by the Lego blocks. No matter what you building the process is the same. #NOVAProductTANK #ProductTank #NOVA #productdesign #productmanagement

AFGE late-night update to CDC layoff number

In total, 4,300 dedicated public servants are no longer serving at CDC. The effective reduction in workforce is approximately 33%.

It is great & was looking forward to it but not working makes you re-assess priorities.

Amen to that! We need more geneticists but we should also improve genetic/genomic education for other specialties.

@geneticssociety.bsky.social should encourage members to post on Bluesky. The exodus from X was significant earlier this year but some remained on X. There is a way to set a stream for #ASHG25 on Bluesky that makes it more accessible for followers.

FC: Ask your elected officials to visit your lab and see what is going on and why it's important. This is the most important thing for getting Congresspeople on board. #ASHG25

And I am missing it 😭!

Not at all. Although posters tend to overwhelm one at ASHG, so take it easy & grab some coffee 😁

Talk to your reps if you are in US but also to you members of parliament in any other country. Politicians need to hear it from scientists. Advancements in healthcare are build on primary research successes.

Francis Collins encouraging scientists to not only reach out to their reps about the importance of their research, but to use personal stories - not just stats and graphs

Science communication and advocacy going to be a theme this week - glad I'm here! #ASHG25

This is our satellite. Bought and paid for with taxpayer dollars, appropriated for this specific mission by the elected Congress. Those who would destroy it on purpose are our enemies.

Head of NASA Sean Duffy intends to destroy a satellite that collects key data on carbon dioxide and plant health, by causing it to burn up in the atmosphere. The U.S. Dept of Agriculture and private agriculture firms use the data to forecast crop yield, drought conditions and more.
Why a NASA satellite that scientists and farmers rely on may be destroyed on purpose
The Trump administration has asked NASA staffers to draw up plans to end at least two satellite missions that measure carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, according to current and former NASA employees.
