Getting older can have its challenges. Being treated negatively because of your age should never be one of them.
We know that once we're over 50 this experience is common. Every area of our life is affected - work, health, friendships and more.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
From wearing age badges to having conversations over coffees, and everything else - every action you took matters.

Yesterday was all about collective action and you really made that happen. It's clearer than ever that together, we can create a future free from #ageism.
Thank you so much for making Age Without Limits Day such a big, vibrant and incredible celebration yesterday! 👏

We saw over 80 events take place across the country, with thousands of you getting involved to celebrate ageing and challenge ageism in your communities.

Today, we’re supporting @agewithoutlimits.bsky.social #AgeWithoutLimitsDay – a day to join forces to celebrate ageing and challenge ageism where we experience or see it.

Being treated differently because of our age is never acceptable.

Notice it ¦ Challenge It ¦ Change it.

Fantastic to see Rosemary, fitness trainer, marathon runner and one of our storytellers, discussing how keeping physically active, whatever your level and if you can, is key to independence later in life on the BBC’s Dr Xand's Con or Cure. 👏

On Wednesday 11th June, let's celebrate our ages together! 🎉

When we celebrate our age, we are taking a stand against the assumptions and stereotypes that hold us back, and we are taking a stand against #ageism.

Yet, we are all ageing, all the time. There are challenges that come with age, but also new interests, fresh knowledge, unexpected careers, meaningful friendships, the deepening lifelong hobbies, and so much more.
When we talk about celebrating ageing, what do we mean? And what has that got to do with challenging ageism?

From jokes on birthday cards to #ageist headlines in the media, we unfortunately live in a society where ageing is often seen as something to commiserate - not something to celebrate.
“Being told someone over 50 isn’t ‘the right fit’ is a familiar line,” writes Sally Ingram in @metro.co.uk

Huge thanks to Sally and Ralph for sharing their experiences about ageism in recruitment & the workplace so powerfully.

Patronised, ignored and dismissed. How older workers are being thrown on the scrap heap.

@AgeUK’s new #ActNowAgeBetter campaign prompts us to think about how being more physically active in your 50s/60s can lead to a healthier, more independent later life.
This is a great challenge to society’s often negative perceptions around ageing and inevitable decline #PositiveAgeing
Introducing our new campaign: Act Now, Age Better 💜

Our campaign aims to start a conversation about how becoming more physically active in midlife can ensure a happier, healthier, more independent later life.

However you get involved, you'll be starting important conversations and helping to create a future where more older workers feel valued.

It doesn't have to be this way. We can all do something to challenge ageism, and #AgeWithoutLimitsDay on Wednesday 11 June is a great moment to get colleagues and team members together to celebrate all ages at work.
Did you know that research tells us that multi-generational teams are more productive and innovative?

Older workers bring incredible value to workplaces, yet one in three people aged over 50 believe they have been turned down for a job because of their age.

Huge thanks to Diane, @pennyrutterford, @gennyjones_ and Bill for joining us at @smashitrageroom to smash stuff destined for landfill
No treachery here, though. Instead, Diane joined #AgeWithoutLimits campaign supporters Jenny, Penny, and Bill at our rage room experience to smash stuff - painted with ageist phrases and stats - to show we’re so over being treated negatively because of our age.
Tired of ageism limiting us as we get older? Wish you could smash ageist stereotypes?

Us too! So we asked special guest and star of BBC’s The Traitors @dianeakamum to help us shatter ageist stereotypes and a few plates along the way 💥
Connections across generations are vital for creating a future free from #ageism.

With #GIW25 ending in a few days, we wanted to share some joyful images from our multigenerational image library collection. Browse the collection and download for free: agewithoutlimits.org/image-library
By celebrating your age on Age Without Limits Day, you’ll reclaim pride in getting older and challenge the #ageist assumptions and stereotypes that hold us all back.

Last year, over 60 groups and communities marked our first #AgeWithoutLimitsDay.

We saw intergenerational fashion shows, photography exhibitions, dance competitions, special podcast episodes, theatre performances and so much more. Be part of making this year even bigger!
Get involved this week and have a conversation with someone of a different age about #ageism, because when more of us are aware of it, the less people will experience being treated negatively because of their age.

Find tips on talking about ageism here: www.agewithoutlimits.org/resources/co...
We know these assumptions because of our age have an especially damaging impact on those of us who are older now, but they also negatively affect the way we think about ageing as we grow up - from as early as 3 years old. Ageism is a prejudice against our future selves at any age.
