the work continues. now more than ever we must rely on education, building community, and organizing
@shabazzstuart.bsky.social and the Oonee team have worked hard & know the system extremely well. They deserve answers & another opportunity.
Today, Oonee and @cyclehoop.bsky.social filed a formal protest with @nyc-dot.bsky.social with respect to its handling of Secure Bike Parking. The DOT has not responded to our requests for a debriefing and says it won't provide FOIL materials until June (!!!) More below:

Speaker Adams did not bring CM Julie Won’s bill, Int. 1138 to a vote this session, which would have given New Yorkers more visibility at intersections. We are deeply disappointed in this result. This is a setback in the fight for daylighting but we will not be deterred.

It was great joining my friends at the @ridersalliance.org to demand for an expanded Fair Fares program and free buses. An equitable transportation system is essential for NYC.
On Sunday, riders took action to demand an affordability agenda that meets the moment. One that will offer free and reduced transit fare to more than 2 million New Yorkers by expanding the Fair Fares program and making our buses free for all riders.

Let’s get Int. 431-A across the finish line and bring much needed reform to our street vending system while also protecting our immigrant communities. Thank you to @pisancheznyc.bsky.social for your leadership on this.
We were proud to join @streetvendorproj.bsky.social, @maketheroadny.bsky.social , at City Hall yesterday in support of @cmpisanchez.bsky.social ‘s amended version of bill Int. 431-A which reforms NYC’s street vending system. ☎️ We have 5️⃣ days to pass this vital bill, call your councilmember today!

It was great learning more about @queenslink.org and the opportunity to bring more public transit and green space to Southeast Queens. Let’s urge the city & state to get this done: thequeenslink.org/get-involved/

Please continue calling on Speaker Adams and the City Council to pass Intro 1138. This is the simplest and most effective way to improve visibility and safety at our intersections. action.openplans.org/support-hard...

200 local groups — from NYC DSA to the Staten Island Conservative Party — joined the growing chorus for banning parking at corners in order to improve safety and visibility in hopes of pushing forward a stalled Council bill to mandate the street redesign known as daylighting.
Hundreds of Community Groups — From the Far Right to the Socialists! — Demand Daylighting - Streetsblog New York City
Two hundred New York City groups joined calls to ban parking at corners in order to improve safety and visibility, also known as daylighting.

Such a beautiful and important moment for this city and for this country.
BREAKING: Mamdani capped his campaign for NYC mayor with a historic win, defeating Cuomo in a contest closely watched by national Dems, Republicans and the White House.

He'll be the first Muslim mayor of NYC — and Trump's new foil ahead of the midterms. politi.co/3LthNzY

It’s truly tough to process what’s happening in this country. I try to stand firm in the advocacy work but am often left with more questions than answers.
