Protip: If you are really cheap, have a Bachelor's degree, and some time on your hands, you can become a Substitute Teacher for CPS and then you can visit many Chicago museums (including the Art Institute) for free!
Art Institute membership is by far the best way to spend money if you live in Chicago. And coming here for the members' hour is the one thing I ought to do far more. Even if the Monets make me homesick
