The soundtrack includes dance anthems by New Order, Rudimental, Kings of Tomorrow, Jack’N’Chill, Defected Records, Tidy Trax, Lisa Lashes, Jess Bays — and of course Sam Divine.
🎥 The film was selected as one of Film London's breakthrough documentaries in 2024 at their London Screenings.
🎧 Filmed over 8 years, Married to the Music features heavyweight names such as Hannah Wants, Smokin Jo, Lisa Pin-Up and Roger Sanchez, plus an unseen interview with the godfather of house music Frankie Knuckles.
🔥 At the centre is DJ Sam Divine, the First Lady of House Music, who opens up with rare honesty about her rise to fame, struggles with addiction and mental health, and her relentless passion for music. Her fight for equality exposes an industry where women still account for only 30% of festival acts
❤️ The film charts the wild rise of dance music — from its birth in the gay black clubs of Chicago, through Manchester’s acid house revolution, the days of illegal raves and pirate radio, to its global takeover. It’s the story of a genre that terrified the establishment and captured hearts worldwide
🎬 The Jukebox Film Club is proud to announce our next screening, the UK premiere of Married to the Music by Garo Berberian (Rebel Republic Films).

A joy talking to Stephen Sayadian last weekend for @afsl.bsky.social ‘s DR. CALIGARI & CAFÉ FLESH double bill. From working as art director at Hustler, to making “the first p*rn film that had people asking for their money back”, Stephen is a fascinating artist that more people should know about.
We had an exciting evening at ICA, screening the inimitable Stephen Sayadian’s double bill (Dr Caligari & Café Flesh). Thanks to Daniel Bird for restoration & Elena Lazic (@elazic.bsky.social) for her moderation. We're also very grateful to @icalondon and to everyone who turned up yesterday.

Come and see this special, deranged, unhinged and absolutely wonderful Stephen Sayadian double bill and we are excited to have @elazic.bsky.social moderating the conversation. www.ica.art/films/fluore...
