Yo! I'm a hypercharged dev/artist dark horse. I know a lot, do a lot, & like a lot: So I talk about & create loads of different things. Mostly robots and sci-fi.
But really anything goes.

I'm also an expert on self-motivation and persistence in the face of isolation and going at one's own pace.
Not sure what upsets me more: that someone made a workshop 'writing fiction with AI', that the library hosts it, or that people are paying to follow a workshop to let a plagiarism machine be creative for them.

... really.

1 in 6 high school kids are now below writing level and can't write simple letters and are at risk to not be proficient in writing and reading.

When I warned years ago that we risked organ trafficking of illiterate citizens, the RIVM defended the gov planned to combat illiteracy 😆 it's increasing.

Family stopped by and as their kid grabbed a Fallout bobblehead said that I "also make those figurines".

I smts feel like the oddball for being creative so it was extremely vindicating to see their jaws DROP when I took Windblade out of display under a "... yeah, 'kinda' like that..."
COMPLETED - 2024-06 - Scarlet Zephyr Commander.
Original model, resin-printed & hand-painted custom figurine.
Design inspired by: Windblade #3 Stone cover.

If you can, help blender out?

They're a free 3D software but development costs time. In a world of stupidly expensive software with predatory subscription models they are a last unicorn 🦄 for 3D modellers and other creatives. It's important to have this in the world.

Dutchies are getting an infoletter for emergency preparedness.

... My LARP hobby got me pretty far but... sounds like this warrants doing more? If they're using snail mail...

(Super)markets using AI music doesn't bother me just for the madness of daring to say people should buy from them, but they can steal from people: markets are fundamentally human in that we all go there. /1

And every time people here talk about climate action there's always hordes of people saying we shouldn't do anything because China pollutes more and is bigger.

China is low bar, high performance. They're delivering results.

Just had 6 yo kids over whom I haven't seen in years and... they like transformers??? Them bots are still alive with the kid crowd??

They've played with Broadside and a few Cheetors and an IF seeker (amethyst?) with great fun. (After barred from Rapid Run, CRID Ultra Mag, OG Sky-byte, & Torca 💀)

Painted up this little guy real quick tonight while I get my next big paint project ready. He's been on my desk for a long time, and I just love the idea of a kobold on an owlbear cub.
I mean, I love kobolds, and I love owlbears, so when you put them together...

Watching people shortcircuit when you tell them that no, you can't in fact just pop by family or ask them for help with the baby because long covid does not allow spontaneity is never-ending frustration.

Long covid only leaves constraints, restrictions, lost connections, and terrible isolation.

Which watchdog kept slapping Microsoft with fines for things such as manipulating users to use Edge and Teams by preloading those in updates? Because copilot is the same & we should maybe en masse alert that watchdog...

Cw: politics

I'm honestly praying GL/PvdA wins out over PVV tomorrow. Can we please see how the Left does it, now that we've seen the Right mess it up? Then we'll know if the endless whinging about 'but the Left!' had any truth to it. Settle it. Please.

Managed to sit down and do gamedev stuff. Not a lot, but keeping the workstation set up and active for that little hour I might get atm is great. Figuring this out as we go.

Nephew came to visit & wanted to play the 'goat game'. Yes, goat simulator.

Afterwards I looked to husband: "it shocks me to say it, as a gamer, but our son isn't playing this dumb shite. Or maybe it's *because* we're gamers. That was just awful to see a kid play."

We're starting on old classics

Seems like Bluesky is spyware ish.

It brings up people I did follow on Twitter, but don't on Bluesky and never searched for.

It also eventually brings up very obscure topics searched for on search engines but not on Bluesky.

It seems to track & algo.

Went to 2 concerts (Ayreon & Helloween) which featured AI art in background cines & gotta admit: We need GenAI warning labels on concert ticket info, and those tickets are way too expensive to see AI slop.

Why pay music artists if they like to steal from cinematic artists?

Fearing for Sabaton.
