Today's funputing task is moving my old graphics card into a disused desktop, installing Linux and configuring it to run XBlock inference.

Looking forward to future Windows software updates no longer knocking XBlock offline!

It is now installed into the XBlock server and running very very nicely

(I can run XBlock and play NMS at the highest settings simultaneously now lol)
New GPU has been installed and we're just updating drivers now. Hold onta yer butts
Service update: scheduled downtime for system upgrade about to commence, will update here once complete.

My latest work project is the calculator in this, we're starting to do more of these smaller custom component projects and it's really exciting. Kudos to everyone for how quickly this came together.

Oh fun, it's Make Thinly-Veiled References To A Nasty Man In The News Without Mentioning Him In A Way That Can Get Caught By Mute Words But I Also Totally Get Why People Don't Explicitly Mention His Name Due To Him Being A Malicious And Litigious Bastard-Day once again

Woke up three hours before my alarm is set to go off because I'm locked into an anxiety spiral about what brave new nonsense I'll have to deal with today.

Okay, this is fun, and brings me back to some neumorphism nostalgia: a fun color palette generator, that lets you play with different color spaces, and build different palettes type

Pretty relieved to realise my AWS credit doesn't expire until September next year (and that I've only used £2k of the £5k from the ATProto grant), that gives me a good few months to get XBlock onto stable local infra. I think if I can get Redis and Ozone back locally it'll be sustainable.

I did it. I finally bought a new graphics card.

Me to my graphics card: "Why are you struggling with NMS on its lowest settings??? Disappointing."

My long-suffering graphics card that does all of XBlock's inference: "I hate you so much."

Good @techpolicypress.bsky.social piece on how the logic of neoliberalism left the door open for tech fascists to swallow the entire world, and how digital tech sovereignty could counterbalance the disproportionate power of American tech firms.
