For reference I was born in 2001 this would have been from 2011 to 2013 I unironically used a bloody payphone I thought that was weirdly interesting

So I was given a phone card (most payphones in New Zealand had stopped accepting coins at that point) and would use a payphone to call Home if I was somehow lost or more likely if the shop was out of something or didn't have something

Fun fact I actually used that number more than once there was a period when I was just out enough to be trusted to go out short distances to I don't know get some milk from the corner store or go to the park down the street but not old enough to be trusted with a cell phone (from 10 to 12 I think)

I remember exactly two phone numbers my old home phone number because they made us memorize it when I was in primary school and my current cell phone number because I've entered it into forms so many times that I sort of just remembered it

I just remembered I captured a #glitch4andi last week
3 road signs stacked vertically. They are led displays, but the bottom left of each display is broken and showing incorrect colors and blocks. The incorrect colors show in a somewhat regular pattern

what does hyper-v taste like
A Windows Server 2008 wallpaper:
A bipedal robot in a grey building is pulling a bunch of servers with a (rope?), in it's right hand, it is holding up a can to the viewer with a label that says "Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V" there is also a tagline beneath it that says "PURE CONSOLIDATED <ENERGY> FOR YOUR SERVER"

OG POST from my Mastodon:
I think the titular Murderbot from Martha Wells novels has pretty much the opposite problem they feel constrained if they don't have 50 additional sets of eyes it's interesting seeing a description from the opposite end of things

The video as promised
the static was almost constantly shifting although it's hard to make that out through the video compression artifacts.

<sarcasm> Video compression has a hard time with constantly shifting and unpredictable noise who knew </sarcasm>

Saw this hashtag and remembered picture and video (video in reply due to an apparent limitation with Mastodon) I took almost a year ago

This Billboard near Westfield Riccarton was going crazy

#glitch4andi
A large digital billboard displays multicolored static instead of an advertisement. The rectangular screen is mounted on a black metal frame above street-level signs for JC Decaux and H&M. Behind the billboard, a McDonald's restaurant is visible, though its golden arches logo is not shown. In the foreground, several parked cars line the curb, and a bicycle leans against a bicycle rack positioned in front of a low hedge. A yellow diamond-shaped traffic sign warns of a speed bump, and a white circular sign indicates a 10 km/h speed limit. The sky is overcast.

They did one for New Zealand and I actually learned something that I didn't know specifically the prime minister apparently wasted a significant amount of government money having a pavlova on a mountaintop WTF

Govt to cut #JobSeeker benefit for 18 & 19 year olds who’s parents earn over $65,000, even if the teens have a disability or health condition. With #CostOfLiving & the job shortage they’re cranking up stress levels to 11, all to meet a target.
My #cartoon today about hard-nosed #NZpol
Cartoon. Title: “Job Seeee-e-e-e” Image shows PM Christopher Luxon at the open hatch of a small plane, high above farmland. He’s leaning out, and holding up a parachute pack, labelled “Job Seeker” He’s calling out to someone falling from the plane, “And I’ve kept your parachute because you kids from low-income homes need some motivation” Then he adds, “Don’t let that disability slow you down!”

Rails is a different problem, but it looks like work has begun to route around the two toxic people and corporations who seized control of the Ruby programming language's infrastructure
Buckle Up, There’s a New Gem Server in Town: gem.coop
New modern Ruby infrastructure coming online by the folks who were unceremoniously kicked out of Ruby Central.

Right I picked up a bag and some sandals to complete this outfit I'm pretty happy with it
The image shows a person standing indoors against a plain background. They are wearing a bright yellow, knee-length dress with short sleeves and a gathered waistline. On their head is a straw hat with a wide brim and a blue band. Their hair is styled in two braids that hang over their shoulders. They have a brown crossbody bag made of woven material and leather accents slung over their left shoulder and a smartwatch on their left wrist. They are wearing brown flat sandals. In the background, there is a framed picture on the wall and a vacuum cleaner on the floor.
