It's hard to have any kind of belief system that doesn't devolve into absurdity unless its believers have an intuitive understanding of metaphor. Can this be taught? I wonder.

On top of the sheer ugliness and indifference to period we're seeing in the Nolan Odyssey, I have to say I'm not convinced Matt Damon would order the doors to be shut while he massacred you and some handmaidens for your presumption. You want Javier Bardem for that

A singular page out of Henri Michaux’s _Ideograms in China_, translated by Gustaf Sobin. “No longer to imitate, but signify nature. By strokes, darts, dashes.”

And: “The sign in Chinese . . . no longer in any way mimetic, has [in a hauntingly canny phrase] the grace of its own impatience.”

We’re being destroyed mentally and meant to behave as if everything is okay. This leads to a sense of detachment and dissociation from our cultural realities, which makes everything feel dreamlike

#3 "Two Dreams" chosen by champion of the unusual @addisonzeller.bsky.social for @thedodgemag.bsky.social. Fiction about climate change usually winds up being about parents feeling guilty just like modern stories about parenting are all at least soft "cli-fi." www.thedodgemag.com/derrickmarti...
