I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

One day in fall '16, I ditched a shift canvassing for Hillary Clinton to watch Hal Holbrook present his "Mark Twain Tonight!" show at a theater in Zanesville. I felt a little bit of guilt ditching a shift, but I thought, will I ever get the chance to see Hal's show again?

Scrappy, intrepid free speech journalist Bari Weiss should investigate this egregious violation of ... Oh wait a minute
Under new head of Paramount David Ellison, the studio has drawn up a list of actors who opposed the Gaza genocide and will not allow them to appear in its films and TV shows.

Does this sound familiar?

Also, "Ellison is reportedly aiming to take over Warner Bros. next."
Paramount Has Blacklist for Stars Deemed “Overtly Antisemitic” — World of Reel
It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.

We're all going to write pieces about what you can learn from tonight but it's actually pretty simple: The frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Pundits never are called to account for their grand pronouncements. The impending thrashing of Winsome Sears in Virginia tomorrow makes me think of all the hot air about Glenn Youngkin four years ago, and how that win was deeply meaningful, and he was going to be going somewhere. And now: Glenn who?

I work on a bucolic college campus with a grounds crew that seems to think a single leaf on the ground is an affront to all things decent. I also spent the weekend raking my own lawn. Funny how peaceful of an activity leaf removal is with a rake, and how aggressive it is with leaf blowers.

Say what you will about lack of administrative experience or whatever, but it's amazing, the effort to make this guy look scary or subversive. He's pleasant! Approachable! Talks about people without getting divisive! Of all the people to demonize ...
Zohran Mamdani spent last night with the late-night workers he said are often forgotten — can drivers at LGA and hospital workers on a 7-7 shift at Elmhurst Hospital, before walking to Kebab King and then having a midnight press conference in Jackson Heights

I've hated the term "kitchen table issues" since before it was cool. Any time I hear some Dem say something like, "When the American people are sitting around the kitchen table, trying to balance the family budget" … I just can't. People don't talk or act like this. But consultants think they do.
(5) Stop with the fucking “kitchen table issues!” Yes, people respond well to that line experimentally. But if they actually acted on it then Donald fucking Trump wouldn’t be president right now.

Try to have the faintest clue of what sort of apparatus his party network has actually built!

Platner is an excellent example of the ability for a scripted and produced video to manipulate our minds and give us a foundational perception that's hard to shake no matter what new information we receive. We all allow ourselves to be manipulated to some extent. Just … be aware of it.

So Zach Bryan includes an anti-ICE lyric in a song, and MAGA world can't just let it go. Can't shrug it off. Can't refrain from commenting. Nope. They just have to piss and moan about it and be thin-skinned assholes.

Absent any other information, it's just as likely that an anti-immigrant, anti-left nutcase could wrote "anti-ICE" on shell casings, murder some detainees, and then kill himself, as it is that an anti-ICE person would do the same. Shooters don't tend to be rational.

I know that Bill Maher has been in "these right-wing assholes are my friends, but" mode lately, but I'm hoping the guy who was canceled in a time of post-9/11 fervor will speak out in no uncertain terms about this right-wing attack on free speech.
