Erling Haaland's shots in the Premier League this season have been worth 7.77 xG.

That's more than double the non-penalty xG of any other player in 2025-26... 🤯

Correct, it’s not just Haaland
adam.cannonstats.com
Yeah I’m sure we see some Rice-Eze-Merino this period or even Rice-Merino-Ethan

People aren’t saying heen-kuh-pee are they? 🫣

what a way to tell on yourself not having watched a single Bayer Leverkusen match for ... FOUR YEARS?! JFC

yeah although he ended up getting one more header inside the box after i posted - put on target but saved
adam.cannonstats.com
only one of these on target? my 9 would never

Sweden losing to Kosovo is crazy...maybe let the other striker take some shots
adam.cannonstats.com
Needless to say this is by far the strongest squad build Arsenal have had under Arteta - just took a long time because who can actually afford to restock the barren shelves that quickly
adam.cannonstats.com
Probably not much with a regular starter, pendulum has swung more into a control the game direction. But a sub for sure. He did also peter out pretty hard after that season
adam.cannonstats.com
well we see a lot of games where subs come on and make a seemingly immediate impact, and that leads to a lot of "x is better as a sub" talk - I would imagine it's relatively universal that fresher is better and the art is balancing that with maximizing results i.e. as much star time as you can
adam.cannonstats.com
yeah I think it's probably the best way to look for it. but there's bound to be some causation/correlation stuff mucking it all up, as well as, for instance, things like struggling with real fitness being the cause of the lower minutes. therefore when played, the output might be smaller anyway
adam.cannonstats.com
It’s a good question! Not sure whether we’d have (m)any good case studies on this one, load management hasn’t been all that much of a thing in football historically and the one club I can think of (City) has seemingly been a bit more consistent with their superstar iron men
adam.cannonstats.com
they would be the most progressive midfielders at Spurs

#neverforget Jorginho-Partey pivot won at Spurs last season 😉
adam.cannonstats.com
yeah both the breaks and the fixtures!

Even chances created, which is a garbage science statistic, doesn’t put him top. So not sure what Nagelsmann means here…maybe “player in the Premier League who has historically created the most chances” ? Still a stretch but more defensible
adam.cannonstats.com
I’m all for not blaming creators for their teammates’ not finishing, but also not sure there’s any metric of actual value that puts Wirtz in this convo.

xAG/90, 5th
xA/90, 3rd
Key passes, 2nd
Passes into the box, 3rd
Live pass shot creation, 2nd*

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is the latest high-profile figure to come to the defence of Florian Wirtz following his slow start to life at Liverpool.

They put a 5-0 whupping of one of the worst teams in ligue 1 in the water 🤪
adam.cannonstats.com
(also bears pointing out that someone like Ekitike, for example, also had significantly less talent playing *against* him most of the time at his former club, while we're here. but his main running mate is at City now, too, so 🤷‍♂️)

yeah that's usually true of the guys who didn't pan out as well - complex game!

20 g/a is good and all but it's a far cry from 47! and there's a lift from him getting that money for your Gakpos as well IMO. But can't ignore Trent (6 a), Diaz (18 g/a) and of course Jota (9 in just 13 games)
