One half of www.cannonstats.com, your blog for all things Arsenal and numbers. I won’t rest until people understand the transfer market.
I spent so much time this summer fine-tuning my ratings model and I can say it honestly say it kicked major ass. But the whole thing was built on numbers from FBRef, and now I’m forced to start over for this season going forward.

Corporate greed is ruining so many things

top 2 and quite likely top seed ✔️

hey he celebrated with Saka!

lol Merino really annoys people, true Newcastle product there

almost certainly would've started the Kairat match so that's a bummer

really like Pio Esposito - wrote about him back in February '25....heir apparent for one of Thuram/Lautaro www.cannonstats.com/p/building-t...?

Here's who the numbers like as we look ahead to the next window

enjoyable enough half, comfortably the more threatening of the two sides but there's definitely not enough recovery pace on the pitch. Wouldn't be shocked to see Rice introduced for Zubimendi in give or take 20 minutes, maybe White for Myles

I respect DiMarco for having highlights that only emphasize his hair loss. Pure confident boss move

Mosquera was really made for a high line, good fit scouting by ARS

Just 4 goals since the beginning of 2025 for Gabriel Jesus now
I’ve now heard stats talking about the G/A numbers over different period for Arsenal players on Arsecast and AVP and I can’t help but get annoyed by the use of games as the measure.

It is also selective end dates to paint each in their worst light but that doesn't bug me as much.

cont... 1/3

oh good now the game will be more open, easier for us to attack
January 20, 2026 at 8:32 PM
good shot! so close to a save
January 20, 2026 at 8:20 PM
plodding, broken attack
January 20, 2026 at 8:11 PM
These kings won at Bodø/Glimt btw
January 20, 2026 at 7:04 PM
unsurprised that the midfield is where we get the bulk of the rotation here, nice to see Cristhian back though!
January 20, 2026 at 6:55 PM
not a title contender losing in Norway, a squad with authority would not do this
January 20, 2026 at 6:08 PM
Reminder that Arsenal would lock a top-2 CL place (with seeding advantages thru the semi finals) with a win today, or a draw + help from all of Bodø/Glimt, Sporting and Athletic Club (unlikely). So they probably go for a win here to try and avoid work being left for match 8
Results are going to hold. Arsenal are a win from clinching a place in the top two (and could still do so with just one point and help).
If current results hold, Arsenal are pretty much top 8 guaranteed in the CL, would just need one point from Inter or Kairat to lock it in.

If current results hold***, one win would also clinch top 2.

i mean why *wouldn't* you want to pair a 28 year old striker with your 30 year old striker
🚨 EXCL: Aston Villa express interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta + Crystal Palace evaluating move for Evan Guessand. #AVFC studying 28yo as striker option amid complex negotiations with Besiktas over Tammy Abraham. #CPFC wanted 24yo last summer @theathleticfc.bsky.social

Aston Villa interested in Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, Palace eye Villa’s Guessand
Villa are keen to strengthen their front line but there has been no breakthrough in talks with Besiktas over a deal for Tammy Abraham.

the people have asked, and I have answered: Here are Arsenal's MAGIC NUMBERS for the first time in 2026

Wolves are pretty close to being wiped off the board already

Sounds like De Zerbi’s plans for Ethan were compelling to Arteta. A stylistic fit was a prerequisite for sending him out so hopefully this goes well, his odds of making benches were only going down tbh
🚨 Marseille reach agreement with Arsenal to sign Ethan Nwaneri on loan. #OM hope 18yo travels after #AFC game at Inter in #UCL, potentially Wed. Sizeable fee but reduces based on games. Arteta drove move for attacker to work under De Zerbi 🚨 @theathleticfc.bsky.social

Been simmering on it and I have to say I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager as poorly supported as this one. From the UEFA fiasco to their transfer business over summer…so poor
Oliver Glasner says he feels “abandoned” by Crystal Palace’s owners and has refused to guarantee he will stay at the club until the end of the season.

So…Arsenal are actually the side playing like they’ve been there before, and City are the ones wasting opportunities? 🤔🤔
On the failing to capitalize on City Dropping points narrative here is how things stack up.

Arsenal have had the opportunity 8 times, they have gotten max points 5 times, and picked up points 6 times. So they are 6/8 on picking up points

lol what a signing, who could’ve called this one
🚨⚠️ Tottenham manager Thomas Frank excludes again Mathys Tel from Champions League squad list. Frank makes space for Dominic Solanke and the only way was to remove Tel. ❗️ The French striker and his camp, not happy at all with the decision.

I wonder whether Forest had to pay to break the loan, someone figure that out
🚨🔴⚪️ Ajax verbally agree on deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal, here we go! Agreement in place over loan until June, leaving #NFFC. Zinchenko will fly in next 24h for medical tests in Amsterdam. Ajax will cover his salary, deal in place as Telegraaf reports.

Hey you know who might be helpful in a match when you’re down late? Donyell Malen, ya dummies
January 18, 2026 at 6:22 PM
Good signing imo, has been cooking in Germany
🚨🟡🔵 EXCL: Leeds United are in talks to sign Romano Schmid from Werder Bremen. Negotiations ongoing. Negotiations around €15m plus add-ons with #LUFC keen, talks on.
