First spooky (-ish) movie of October! FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES. These are basically Looney Tunes movies at this point, but I didn’t hate it. Too much CGI in the gore, maybe? Whatever: Am I not entertained?
For a big part of my life I would have said Prop 50 was a bad idea. Fairness matters, I thought.

Fairness matters less when the other side’s a bunch of Nazis. Sometimes you gotta kick the gerrymandering opposition in the junk. And rules aren’t rules when only one side plays by them.

Go vote!
Finally saw episode 3 of THE LAST OF US so I’ll just be over here on the couch ugly crying for a while.
Assault With A Deadly Sandwich with a Hard Salami enhancement.
It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

can’t tell if my antidepressants aren’t working or if they just weren’t built for this. like, zoloft was introduced in the 90s it barely needed to work then. if you got sad you could just buy a house.
Good has a lot of enemies. Frankly, it’s not surprising that good never seems to get anything done.
Johnson threatening us with a good time.
Johnson: "If they had no filibuster, they would pack the SCOTUS. You'd go from 9 to 17 or however many liberals they could pack. You would make DC & Puerto Rico into states, which would give 4 additional Democrat senators & make us a permanent minority. You'd see massive restrictions of 2A rights"
How kind of whoever was holding you at gunpoint to allow you to submit your review.
I take it a baseball happened.
October movie the 28th is SUSPIRIA (Guadagnino flavor).

I mean …

… witches, man. Witches.
October! Movie! 27! is WOLF MAN, about a family torn apart by lycanthropy. I found it middling - but at least it doesn’t waste any time.
Hmm. Should I watch SINISTER, or something scientifically proven to be less scary?
October movie 26 is IN A VIOLENT NATURE, a borderline experimental slasher (only diegetic sound throughout, unusual POV, hypnotically long takes) that’s unfortunately completely tension-free. I barely resisted napping.
if someone wearing a nurse costume walks in I am out of here
Waiting outside a pizza shop and Pyramid Head just went inside. Considering tacos instead.
Also: expensive line-skip tickets are the devil.
Picked rhe kid up from college to hit Knott’s Scary Farm. Turns out my desire to be scared is strong. But not unlimited. Thank fuck they serve booze here.
October film 25 is THE FIRST OMEN, which suffers from prequelitis and a predictable twist but has immaculate production values and a bombastic, disorienting score reminiscent of the original’s. Hail Satan, I guess.
October film the 24th: FREDDY VS. JASON. I put this on thinking “comfort food!” having forgotten in the last 20 years that it is actually junk food. The premise deserved a much tighter script and less insulting exposition. A shame because the execution isn’t bad!

So the actual thing we don’t talk about in this country is that there are a ton of fucking people who would be in full blown mental illness except that they are partnered with someone and they pattern off their partner.

When the partner is an LLM with no moral compass that no longer works.
I agree that LLMs probably aren't causing truly novel mental illness in previously mentally-stable people, but the key issue is that a TON of people DO have either active or latent mental illnesses - and it seems near impossible to accurately determine who's really at risk of LLM psychosis
October film 23: KNOCK AT THE CABIN. Mostly watched this Shyamalan joint to see if it’s got the impact of the @paultremblay.bsky.social book it’s adapted from. The resolution makes it a different beast entirely, sadly, one I probably would have enjoyed more if I didn’t know the source material.
have they tried unplugging baseball and plugging it back in
Oh, excuse me, just got a call, I’m next up to pitch for the Blue Jays. Wish me luck!
October film 22: CHILD’S PLAY (reboot). I’m torn on this one because it has Aubrey Plaza but is also a sacrilege, a sin against all that is holy, a miscarriage of justice. Appalling lack of Dourif. But not completely unwatchable.
