💰73% think cost of renting or buying is a 'MAJOR PROBLEM'
👎74% rate City's response as fair or poor

Many of the rules shaping what we can and can’t build today were written 50–60 years ago. If we want to meet Massachusetts’ modern housing needs, everything should be on the table for reform.

Really worth thinking about this thread as we plan for our Allston-Brighton neighborhood here in Boston. And not just keeping our eyes on city of Boston actions, but on our Massachusetts state legislature to pass h.1542 to have a commission studying single stair building reform.
i've been thinking about donald appleyard's research on social interaction diagram a lot in relation to some of the topics in my book and some recent podcast discussions

specifically the social isolation crisis, and how we plan and build multifamily housing in the US today

Very helpful summary and discussion of the current housing situation in Greater Boston vis-a-vis changing Federal policies - from @amydain.bsky.social at @bosindicators.bsky.social
While city and state policies have a substantial effect on housing policy, it’s crucial to pay attention to the many policy changes being made by the Trump administration that could impact the housing supply in Greater Boston and Massachusetts.
