Empty as mist, she’s
drawn to smoke and candle soot—

I’d fly
like the Utah
gulls we don’t have down here,
above the mountains and salt flats —
loud, free.

Door hanging
From broken hinge
Creaking
In the wind
Vines invading
Through windows
Gone missing
Voices speaking
From years past
Echoing down
The ages
Yearning to be
Heard
The word ghost
Never said
Out loud
They don't
Even know
That their ashes
Are gone

The is literally nothing more American and patriotic than declaring: No Kings.

So I wrote a little personal essay over on sub stack about what I’m trying to do as a poet. The essay’s all over the place and kind of a mess but at least it feels honest . . . to me. #WritingCommunity #Writing.

Silent streets complied—
jackboots echoed, questions died,
neighbors learned to shush.

Well, my poetry doesn’t rhyme all the time so I’m not addicted to that. I mean, that’s really scary.

A young gal who was showing some thigh
Caught the eye of a very cute guy.
But alas he lacked nerve;
Failed to speak up with #verve.
He could NOT even muster a "Hi."

Absolutely. I love Southern Utah. Driving with my grandchildren and my son through the deserts is one of my favorite things to do. I like writing about what we say to each other and some of the things we see and experience.
