"His works are essential to understanding Marx's Capital, and the carnage of capitalism."

I want one, where did you get it?
It's a classic example of "you're trying to get to B? Well I wouldn't start from here!" Starmer and Reeves had loaded their failure before they even started.

Anyway. Mad about capitalism again
💯 this. The economic policy of this govt is a political choice about who bears to gain or lose, not some force of nature driven by the bond markets.

This begins with Labour understanding who their electorate are. Something the party has shown no curiosity about whatsoever.
I fully accept that things are Not Good at the moment for the Labour Party, and I personally find some of the more Blue Labour stuff a bit grim, but I'd like to hear someone explain what the strategy should be that results in the government retaining a majority.
It's increasingly obvious that Labour's strategy - call it Starmerism, Blue Labour, whatever - has got it badly wrong. It has alienated the party's core vote while failing to win over those leaning to Reform. There was no shortage of people warning them they were getting it wrong either.

Reform UK: 27% (+1 from 19-20 Oct)
Labour: 17% (-3)
Conservatives: 17% (=)
Greens: 16% (+1)

The unwillingness of a great many people to call racism racism because doing so is seen as rude or uncivil is hugely problematic.
"Legitimate concerns" 🙄

Imagine how much more money companies could make if they stopped ruthlessly framing their adverts to shift as much product as possible to as many people as possible and just pandered to weirdo racists instead!

Human existence has only been about wage labor for ~0.1% of our history. Having a job isn’t the same as having a purpose, and there’s nothing bad about losing jobs. The only way that could ever be a problem is if a bunch of assholes had tied all of our basic needs to our usefulness to rich people.
Watching #bbcpnw and wondering why they're all so afraid to say Pochin's comments are racist.
Exactly this. He was allowed free rein to sound "tough" without any of the implications being explored.
Heard someone on @lbc.co.uk yesterday phone in to say that they weren't racist, they were just afraid of all the strange black people in their town. How on earth has that become an acceptable thing to say?

You can’t even complain about the number of black people in your town or on TV these days without being called a racist.
The orchestra is the real star of the 2015 Bayreuth Tristan. At the end there's a real sense of waves or breath moving in and out. Fantastic stuff.
Best stage direction ever. Tristan und Isolde act 3:
