so, the core of the dark object system is that every "game object" is made up of a bunch of properties and links. properties are just tables of data keyed by object id, more or less like all ecs systems have now.

Yeah, there's absolutely a bunch of variety in there, but if they're trying to build a high-quality data center to run all their nonsense, it matters whether they're building 100 machines with 3ghz clock speeds or 50 machines with 6ghz

To the end user, I agree, but they're absolutely concerned with the physical devices if they're trying to build datacenters. Compute (for the services actually consuming it) is absolutely measured in ec2s, and the kind of ec2s (which CPU / GPU / RAM) for sure matters

More specifically (but not necessarily more helpfully) it's the computers underlaying the cloud. It's literally the CPUs, GPUs, and RAM that runs all of those services. Generalized computers = compute
