Thanks for the confidence boost.

Tahini would definitely work in satay. Idk why people get so hung up on "authenticity". There are so many "close enough" ingredients for emergencies.

If I get a time machine i'm not just preventing the pedal steel from being invented, I am also preventing LEAF BLOWERS from being invented.

You are welcome, please pray for me to get a time machine.

So they are going to give people with no preexisting mental health issues mental health issues by letting their phones seduce them, huh?

Just the best timeline we are living in.

If your culture does not believe in taking care of its elders, who are tired, then your culture is highly disturbing. My culture celebrates its elders because they have much wisdom, yet they also deserve rest, and respect.

Maybe took a break from music and painted an abstract tangerine on a canvas.

I was so delulu on the weekend I decided to dehydrate tangerines hoping he would smell them across the ocean and post an update.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Not very unhinged, but: Stop reading a book if you're bouncing off of it. Stop "powering through." You're just wasting your time. You don't get a gold star for finishing books you're not enjoying reading.

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

That was my wrong assumption as well. It's legitimately great

I binged the whole first season over 2 days when I should have been working.

I am saving the 2nd and 3rd for when the weather inevitably turns in the next month or so. I will need that level of comfort and drama

Oh, you missed when I got addicted to it! It should not be this good!

I really would have preferred tahini, but when the slightly overcooked peas, lemon and garlic are already in the food processor, stores are closed and the tahini isn't good, peanut butter is shockingly fine to give that nutty flavor.

I think the beauty of being army & being a fan of bangtan is that no matter how diverse we are as people, inherently we are drawn to them bc there are parts of us that we can see in them & that’s beautiful bc as much as we love & admire them it means we’re capable of loving & admiring ourselves too

I am on the war path this morning

Yep, and you see it to certain degrees in all white americans in spite of their politics. It's a cultural thing for them

There was one paragraph at the bottom of the article giving reasons why Canadians aren't going to the US or buying US booze, but not until you get the whining of a bunch of business people who probably voted for that but think they are innocent bystanders anyway.

That's how boycotts work!
yvalarevolution.bsky.social
Nope, they don't know anything about us. Saw a BS piece on CNN about how we are villains for hurting "innocent bystanders" by not wanting to go there on vacation and get put in ice jail.

Pretty much. When I got my new cable, I had the option to not get any news channels at all and I took it. It has been really nice. I can still get local news, but there is no cable news for me. I took all the sports packages I could instead of news and haven't looked back.
yvalarevolution.bsky.social
I have said this before, but the media deciding to start reporting on what twitter does in about 2015 was the point where the rapid descent into hell started.

Before that the weirdos would have to trick their way onto cable news as commentators to have a platform to be loud and wrong on.

This subject interests me, I have read a lot on it, and not just because internet recipe purists piss me off. This article is mostly UK war centric, but also talks about other countries and how/why they substitute.

Maybe it's because I actually cook a lot, don't need recipes and understand flavor profiles.

There are some things you really can't substitute for. Gochujang is one of those things. Your food will taste wrong without it.

But peanut butter in hummus in an emergency is fine. You can't tell.

It's like the snobbery over hyphenate cuisines. Immigrants adapted their recipes to use ingredients that were available to them to create their own new cuisines. I think that's cool af tbh.

Easy ingredient availability is a fairly new thing, and mostly a north american city phenomenon.
