Love being here at #SWIU2025. Such a wonderful community of women in urology. Feeling very energized to go back and learn and grow on my journey in urology! Thank you to my program (Mayo Clinic Florida) and SWIU for supporting this conference trip! 👩🏻‍⚕️
I’m done with STEP 3. Plz clap.

I know a lot of people are skeptical of data showing better outcomes for patients of female physicians. The data summarized below demonstrate potential mechanisms for this finding, including female physicians spending more time with patients and being more likely to provide evidence-based care.
I gave a talk today to some ENT surgeons in the UK, and when you look back at the decades of data on how male and female physicians (binary data, unfortunately) practice differently, it’s really no surprise at all that patients tend to fare better with the latter. I’m sure I’ve talked about this…
While everyone is scrolling… figured would post a high yield ⚠️ biostatistics cheat sheet for the USMLE exams I just made in case it might be useful.

I am done with the STEP exams tomorrow! Good luck with everyone in the same processes!

Do you know a MS1 in an accredited school in Florida? Do they want to do research (and get paid) next summer? Do they think kidneys are cool? I have ten spots in an NIH supported training program if you do....

Cervical cancer mortality in US women younger than 25 years significantly declined between 2016 and 2021, likely due to the widespread adoption of HPV vaccination.

Texas' abortion ban has negatively impacted the state's obstetrics and gynecology workforce, with declining residency applications, practicing physicians leaving the state, and challenges in providing comprehensive reproductive healthcare training.

AI has a huge potential in #BladderCancer for diagnosis, prognostic and predictive assessment
Some questions remain to be answered related to:
▶️ Heterogeneity of disease
▶️ Interreader variability of pathology assessment
▶️ Which ground truth to apply? #AI #MachineLearning @oncoalert.bsky.social

It’s really nice seeing names I recognize on this app 🌌! But also slightly intimidating to start navigating a new social media platform/rebuilding my community here. #medsky #urologysky

The stories will keep coming as long as doctors, nurses, & hospitals are told that they have to worry about the courts instead of to their medical judgement.

Abortion is healthcare.
NEW: Porsha Ngumezi is the fifth case we've reported on in which a woman died after not receiving a D&C or its second-trimester equivalent in time, or at all.

Her case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.
A Third Woman Died Under Texas’ Abortion Ban. Doctors Are Avoiding D&Cs and Reaching for Riskier Miscarriage Treatments.
Thirty-five-year-old Porsha Ngumezi’s case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.

Would also love to be added!
Took some pics for a project called “Faces Within These Walls” at Mayo Clinic Florida. Looking pretty happy at 7 AM before a long day in the OR where I’m first assisting all of cases. Residency’s treating me pretty well right now, I guess. #ilooklikeasurgeon 👩🏻‍⚕️

A recent #medicalillustration on pneumomediastinum published in Elsevier’s “Management of Esophageal Disasters.” Usually don’t do much work above the diaphragm as an urology resident, but fun to get back into it! 🫁
I think my co-intern and I won our urology department’s mustache competition for #Movember 🥸
