For an avg US-ican driving 12k mi/yr and a hypothetical range of 350 mi on a charge, that's nearly 7 hours per year that you're spending charging instead of living.

I think the only way to get lower times is through battery swapping.

Naysayers knock the overall efficiency (using electricity to make the fuel than is converted back into electricity), but refueling in under 3 min it beats sitting at a charger for at least 10x that time.

That said, I've loved our eGolf since 2019 and think there are use cases for both EV and HFC.

I wanted to get a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in 2019, but the infrastructure was not there. The only refilling in the area is at Boston Logan, our airport!

Though I don't think it'll be consumer-friendly, I love the hydrogen combustion Corolla (not fuel cell): carbuzz.com/news/hydroge...

Toyota is using the crucible of motorsport to accelerate the development of hydrogen engines, and the results are promising.
