The gentleman podcasters mentioned earlier will have to wait—tonight’s wind-down will be accompanied by some work from the great Alycia of Civics & Coffee (@civicspod.bsky.social). Topics covered in the episodes selected range from Boss Tweed to the 14th amendment to voodoo, to name but three.
Jesus, AP. Get the photo of Jayden Daniels’s brutalized arm out of my feed, please

it is not remarked upon enough that these guys just genuinely and sincerely hate america and hate americans
it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops
I am bizarrely unaffected by the shots. Hell, the two times I’ve knowingly had Covid were almost exclusively symptom-free. Kinda echoes the ol’ exchange from The Apartment, Fran Kubelik telling resigned and congested Bud Baxter that she doesn’t get colds, so some poor devil has double the average.
Being a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals is like rooting for the rockets in those darkly comedic videos where unmanned launched spacecraft do U-turns into the ground
Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you for yours, good sir! What do you make of Chet opting to have Sand’s letters preserved? This is in no way to contest your points. I wonder what Arthur thought history would make of her correspondence. He musta maintained a soft spot for her to the end.
New episodes of Jerry & Alex (@presidencies.bsky.social) talking *vice* presidencies, & Bruce, @myhist.bsky.social, musing on the connection between Thomas Jefferson & John Adams, one of whom—you get one guess–was actually not a slaveholder, a rarity amongst the early presidents. Good listens ahead!
Double-bag cup of Irish breakfast, 10:30 PM masquerading as an hour earlier. The usual caffeine junkie’s fool’s errand
Atrocious. You let a fan base and a city down. Man up, face the media, and sure as shit don’t think this a laughing matter. God, I detest sports this weekend

We asked for universal healthcare and in response we had both parties say, "Best we can do is unchecked tech companies making a chatbot that only sometimes tells you to kill yourself."

We might be cooked.
I had a 45 year old rideshare driver tell me recently that he uses AI for therapy.

I asked him which one. He said “Grok— I like the voice it uses, the tone doesn’t talk down to me like ChatGPT’s does.”

He bragged that he had a 4 hour “therapy session” talking to Grok.

Chat, are we cooked?
FOR THE HUNDRED MILLIONTH TIME ASYLUM HAS TWO MEANINGS I FEEL LIKE I’M LOSING MY MIND
O'DONNELL: Are we going to war against Venezuela?

TRUMP: I doubt it. They emptied their mental institutions and insane asylums into the United States of America

Maybe I was lucky as a kid, but my English teacher had us read books about the inhumanity of cruel manual labor conditions (I.E. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair”)

Or farming during the Great Depression (The Grapes of Wrath”. )

Theres an ahistorical danger in romanticizing body-crushing labor.
to be fair, those same people worked, their own countrymen to death, including children, almost as much. Much like with the shift to robots and AI, it's pure ugly, nasty, human greed.

As a therapist, this is concerning. There is more and more research and evidence that confirms that these AI "therapists" end up causing harm to the user. Whether its encouraging relapse/substance abuse, AI psychosis, or more dramatic suicidal gestures, AI damages the user. Its a scary time.
Kinda how I feel every morning before I’m out of bed and caffeinated
Nice! In recent years, when making expatriate Cincinnati chili, I’ve used ground chicken as opposed to beef. The right poultry product goes undetected when combined with rich flavors. Not to denigrate turkey sausage, which of course on its own can be quite tasty.
Do you recall the rumors of a fourth installment starring DiCaprio? I think it was back when Coppola was struggling financially, late ‘90s, early ‘00s. Maybe even as far back as the glory days of Corona Coming Attractions, Dark Horizons, Ain’t It Cool News, & other good old online cinematic haunts.
My only suggestion would be a few miles of bedrock between the prequel scenes and Part III
