A 26” mountain bike makes the perfect city ride: quick, agile, versatile, and comfy. Compact enough to fit into tight bike spots on commuter trains too. I absolutely love this bike, it’s my favorite! ❤️

I really enjoy living in a big city. The best part is the public transport service: frequent, reliable, and running late into the night so you can go out and about without having to rely on a car. #WienLiebe #LoveVienna

Bike commuting in @wien.gv.at can be truly rewarding. Not only do you get a great morning workout and arrive at work fresh and energized, but you’re also treated to stunning sunrise views over the Danube. 🚲🌅🫶🇦🇹

Great to see I’m not the only one cycling as the air gets crisper and the days shorter. The combo of bike and train is a real game-changer for urban mobility, perfect for longer routes when darkness or distance might otherwise hold you back.

Out of 195 countries worldwide, 0 have mandatory bicycle license plates and 0 require pedestrians to register.
Switzerland once had bicycle license plates but abolished them.

Portland is truely that “violent Antifa hellscape” the Trump warned us about 😱. Guess I’ll have to see this anarchistic chaos for myself soon 😎

Love this video on protected bike-friendly intersections! Intersections are where most crashes happen and zebras or traffic lights alone won’t fix that. Dutch-style intersections put safety of pedestrians and cyclists first. Can’t wait to see them being built in Vienna! @martinblum.bsky.social

I don’t not want to share the street with cars that go faster than 30 km/h. That’s uncomfortable and dangerous. And those painted bike lanes together with ever wider cars don’t deliver the safety for cyclists from 8 to 88, I demand . Remove the parking lane, build a real bike lane.

Today, the equivalent of 100 mn bottles of vegetable oil are burned in cars every day, meaning a fifth of all vegetable oil is never even used for food.

By 2030, biofuels crops will require land the size of France, which would make it the 6th largest country in terms of arable land use globally.

In Vienna, painted bike lanes often still mean choosing between risking being crushed by a car or slammed into an opened door. Protected lanes save lives, paint doesn’t. 👇

How microplastics may be reshaping our bodies and minds.

“The particles are in our blood, brains and guts – and scientists are only beginning to learn what they do.”

Microplastics like those from car tires. The bigger and heavier the vehicle, the more microplastics shed.

Dooring crashes are a nightmare for cyclists, especially in cities. In Berlin, an actress recently lost her life after hitting a van door. Such tragedies are preventable, drivers should use the DutchReach. Driving schools must teach this simple, life-saving habit. 👇

The newly renovated main bus station in Linz is a huge step up: brighter, cleaner, now with a dedicated bike lane 🫶🚲🚐. A clear win for commuters. Unfortunately, the design includes hostile architecture aimed at deterring homeless people, a disappointing contrast to the otherwise positive upgrade.

Happy #BicycleBirthday, John Lennon!

October 9 (1940-1980)
Photo of John Lennon standing astride a bicycle in a meadow. "As a kid I had a dream - I wanted to own my own bicycle. When I got the bike I must have been the happiest boy in Liverpool, maybe the world. I lived for that bike. Most kids left their bike in the backyard at night. Not me. The first night I even kept it in my bed!"
