The celebrity woman progressives admire most right now isn’t Sheryl Sandberg. It’s probably Ms. Rachel. That doesn’t fit neatly into right wing memes. But it doesn’t need to. We need to make our own worldview not fit ourselves into someone else’s.
Sorry, that was more than two. Should probably quit doing that. I never quite know how many posts.
Really though where the film succeeds is by being both recognizably gothic horror and like the 1922 original while also being new and somehow both stripped back (at least compared to Coppola) as well as it's own variety of campy at times (Lily Rose Depp sure can convulse!)
As I've said, I view judging a movie morally or as a product of society to be separate from my own enjoyment (again, I did enjoy!). I'm not 100% sure on first viewing what the film is saying about the character of Ellen or whether it's supposed to be messed up or not. Curious on others' thoughts.
Meant to watch this as a way to continue the Halloween season but realized it's actually a Christmas movie, explicitly. Enjoyed it. (1/2) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosfera...

Im 16. The political pieces on Teen Vogue helped increase my political awareness this past year so thank you, and I hope you and your coworkers can get hired elsewhere soon!!

as my fellow Teen Voguers come over here I’ll be sharing their accounts, throw them a follow, offer them work, and we’ll be launching a gofundme/something similar soon!
I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.
I accept that there are always trade offs. Otherwise I could never vote for anyone as there would always be some doubt or disagreement. I just don’t start by saying “we need to make trade offs” before there’s even a candidate yet to say that about.

Sports offer justice and fairness, rules, referees, effort and talent rewarded in a world where corruption and nepotism seem to influence so much else.
What do you want ME to do or not do specifically?
Ok, then by all means you shouldn’t be needing all of us on Bluesky to get behind this platform then if we’re such a minority. We’re just people with opinions anyway. That’s what isn’t making sense. Why are you arguing with us? Is it just for fun?
Again, if you want to create a moderate (by your definition) faction and believe it would have broader appeal go create it yourself. You shouldn’t have difficulty doing so since the whole point is to be popular. Why do you need all of us enthusiastically on board?

If there is in fact a large number of voters desperate to vote for Democrats who parrot Fox News talking points then by all means talk to them. Maybe get one of them to run for office. If it’s such a winning strategy you shouldn’t need our help to do it.

I still live in the reality where the biggest problem with the US healthcare system is lack of coverage and availability not some scare about every once in a while the “wrong” people getting hormones. I’m not going to humor all these red herrings…

I prefer setting the terms of the debate ourselves and find the other side’s weaknesses, not keeping falling over ourselves trying to complain even louder than the right about whatever scary minority scapegoat the right cooks up.

Note for people encountering this from its repost: I am not a Twilight fan and never have been except maybe in an ironic sense (see my other comments, elsewhere).

Twilight for me is nostalgic in the same way The Room or Birdemic is nostalgic. Which I suppose gives these discussions much lower stakes than I suppose they have for others.

There’s also Dominic Noble’s reviews of the books, where he starts from Ellis’ POV before realize the issues go much deeper. youtube.com/playlist?lis...

He also realizes how Mormonism is kind of a core thread throughout the series’ development.

Full disclosure: my relationship to Twilight is entirely tied to people picking on it (including her before she had second thoughts, see “Booze your own Adventure” series and Awoken). I’ve never seen a Twilight movie without Rifftrax…
