"Mate, I can't do anything but tell it to you straight. This Canada thing is literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The Canadians ran an advertisement showing Ronald Reagan being against tariffs. Guess what? Ronald Reagan was against tariffs."
Would a demolition company, especially one that works in DC, take a project like this without seeing plans/documentation that all approvals were in place?
This is the company, ACECO, whose equipment and employees demolished East Wing of the White House this week.

They've redefined their own reputation, that's for sure. Check them out: acecoworld.com

And don't forget Clark Construction, "Building What Matters."

Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!
Per PL 87-286, the White House and grounds are a National Park System property, subject to the Organic Act. IANAL but doesn’t that mean anybody could sue for the APA violation of unpermitted activity?
So then essentially anyone is allowed to bulldoze and build in a national park and if DOI/NPS doesn't enforce the Organic Act then nobody else can stop them? Seems like Trump just threw the doors open for rampant private development in every national park in America.
PL 87-286 says that the WH "shall be administered pursuant to" the National Park Service Organic Act of 1916. The only exemptions are for "administration" or "use and occupancy" by the President...bulldozers seem like a stretch.

This is just straight up illegal demolition of a national park.
Or maybe use less passive voice: an ICE agent shot a US Marshall.
I do wish just one of the news stories that let the GOP spout talking points about delayed SNAP and WIC funding would mention that they all voted to defund both programs three months ago.
And not just historic preservation applies. Under PL 87-286 the White House is a NPS property and explicitly covered by the Organic Act.

The President is for all practical purposes using secret donations to bulldoze a national park.
Yep. Demolition and construction on a National Park System property, paid for by secret billionaires. This is a staggeringly dangerous precedent for ALL national parks. It opens the door for privatization of America’s most precious public lands.
The White House keeps making a big deal of the fact that the ballroom is privately funded but that’s one of the worst things about it.

These people and companies are buying influence. None of this is okay.
Wow THREE TRILLION dollars is some truly shameless misinformation.
The White House grounds are a National Park Service property, and this project does not appear in compliance with any of the laws governing national park management.

This will be a great precedent for selling off other national parks and public lands for privately funded development.
Exclusive: More than three dozen organizations and individuals are expected to attend a dinner with Trump on Wednesday after opening their checkbooks to support a $250 million White House ballroom.

The dinner is set to include representatives from Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Alphabet’s Google, Amazon and Palantir Technologies.

The most popular way to reduce the federal debt? Raise taxes on wealthy, close loopholes.
And did he report it on his 278e? It sure doesn't look like it...

“Spring wheat, the pulse crops, peas, lentils, chickpeas, barley, none of those crops are looking like winners at this point. So it really doesn't look like there's not very many choices anyway that I'm aware of where you can, given the current state, make money next year"
Montana Ag Network: How tariffs abroad are impacting farmers at home
Farmers have been struggling to figure out what the future ahead of them looks like since the announcement of across-the-board tariffs this past April.

If only there was some way the chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee could have prevented a shutdown!
Not to mention, as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, the shutdown is quite literally her fault for not finishing the twelve FY26 approps bills by Oct 1.

Shutdown Susan is incompetent as a committee chair and irrelevant as a senator. Maine deserves better.
Really rich of the Chair of the Senate Approps Committee to try and blame Schumer for the shutdown when her committee failed to finish work on all 12 approps bills by Oct 1.

If Susan Collins wants to reopen the government maybe she should start by doing her job.
New from Susan Collins: “I strongly oppose OMB Director Russ Vought’s attempt to permanently lay off federal workers who have been furloughed due to a completely unnecessary government shutdown caused by Senator Schumer.”
This! The shutdown isn't because of the lack of a CR, it is because the Republicans couldn't manage to pass more than 3 of the 12 appropriations bills on time.
I know Mike Johnson says there is nothing for the House to do but there is.

You see by law a budget was supposed to be in place by Sept 30th, but Rs haven’t passed one. The reason? There isn’t a GOP budget. They haven’t even started working on one. This is what the House should be doing FFS!
Rep. Troy Downing (accidentally) admits the truth: the shutdown happened because the House only passed 3 of the 12 appropriations bills before Oct 1. That failure is completely on the Republicans and their inability to do their jobs.

U.S. Rep. Downing says pressure building on lawmakers as government shutdown continues
The ongoing federal government shutdown has dragged into a second week, and there’s no sign yet that lawmakers are closer to resolving the impasses that have held up funding.

We need more of this Speaker Jeffries.
Some random Republican tried to come for me in the Halls of Congress.

Things didn’t work out well for him.
