we taught you how to grow corn, now let's all learn to block lakota manicotti once and for all

I am seeing a lot of people reposting Lakota Man today bc it's Indigenous Peoples Day. A reminder that he is not well liked amongst many (most?) Natives on social media. Many of us blocked him a long time ago. Some of the reasons why are in this article.

Who is LakotaMan, the user behind one of the most popular Native American accounts on X?
John Martin is adored by white X users—but infamous among Native and Indigenous communities.

The cover features and older librarian flirting with an older women checking out books. Back of Of Love and Libraries with the summary Hardcase of Love and Libraries which features falling leaves and tumbling books Back cover featuring a qoute and a check out tag. Effective glimpse into the lives of everyone in the town across generations, race, and gender. This truly is such a quick but tender read. And if you're feeling some gentle fall vibes. I highly encourage this book.
whirloglyphics.bsky.social
The town feels full and lively. The festivals and descriptions for all the stores in town felt like a small adventure. I also loved the cute dogs named for Pride and Prejudice Characters. And the epistolary elements of the letters to save the library before it closes was such a fun break and

Strange grief and hollowness that comes from seeing a place frozen in time in your mind having moved on without you. The exploration into the lives of those left behind though brief is so rich and emotional. I especially loved the childhood friends to lovers over the period of longing and pining for

The narrative is so completely tender regarding Frankie and her mother's estranged relationship after her mother kicked her out and disowned her in the 70s/80s when she came out as a lesbian.

The grief is so raw and real, and looking back at a lost relationship due to pride and things unspoken

This story was absolutely precious and hit close to home for me. While I am not grieving the death of a mother I did recently lose my grandmother but I do have a tenuous relationship with my mother. And this story gently encouraged me to think about issues with her in another light.
