You'd be surprised how many times another teacher will read a book and not realize it's by a super cool best selling author and even occasionally someone I know.
Here it is. Pretty standard "people in your community" picture book. I kinda dig the MS paint lookin art style.

Have you ever worked an office job cus this is how ever admin team works.
I was severely bullied in 5th grade so in 6th grade I am pretty sure my former bullies were forced to invite me to their near weekly movie nights. They always wanted to see the most boring action movies with no fights. Fast & Furious knockoffs like some shit called Torque.

We need more Torques.
I remember when there were like 10 blockbusters a year, half of them sucked, and then there were like 50 other decent movies that like... Were decent.

Now everything has to be a blockbuster to justify its existence.
Today in school we read a book today written by someone named Sarah Bridges and I was like "Sarah Burgess?!" and the other teacher was like, "No. Bridges."

Tron is the kinda franchise that I could see doing any genre, any style, with any director, and any star. Gimme a Jack Black / Billy Eichner anime romcom set inside the servers at a Papa John's on NYE 1999.

As long as Jared Leto isn't in it that'd be a fine Tron movie.

It's unsurprising but so funny that the lesson they're taking here is "Tron" is the problem, and not that everyone fucking hates Jared Leto
Welcome to Nightvale but for straight people be like, "There is a grumpy old man that lives in your balls."
I am gonna move to Brooklyn specifically so we can be proper IRL friends
Got school photos done. All the other teachers just got a simple shot but for some reason they took me on a lil photoshoot.
Adults telling me they grew up as iPad Kids makes me feel weird cus I was a whole ass adult when the iPad first came out.
On my way home today the ground was still a bit wet, so I was collecting some neat textures where someone from work walked by. I was like, "Please don't tell anyway I was taking pictures of the sidewalk."

I may never recover from this social interaction.
oh my god I know a kid who looks exactly like this.

What's up #portfolioday I'm Darren and I'm a cartoonist/graphic designer double decker sandwich. Samples of my comics work are in this post and samples of my graphic design work will be in the reply!
A page of comics with five panels - panel one shows an exterior of a small and busy coffee shop by the coast. In the background is a pirate ship. Panel two shows a customer, a young man in glasses, walking up to the counter, as a barista says "Next!" Panel three shows the barista asking the customer "Hey. What can I get you?" The customer responds with "The usual - a large hazelnut green tea mocha with one pump of raspberry and one -". He is interrupted by the fourth panel which shows him opening up his wallet, which coughs. It has a couple of dollar bills and some dust bunnies. Panel five shows him holding out the bills and putting his finger in the air, sheepishly asking for "Make that one normal coffee. Black. Small." A page of comics with six panels. The first panel shows a woman wearing scuba gear and a fedora emerging from a body of water full of mannequin heads. An exclamation from off-panel says 'AQUARIUS JONES!" Panel two shows the speaker, the mayor, a short woman, continuing "but you're a private pool private eye! You're not qualified to solve a PUBLIC POOL case!" Panel three is a full body drawing of Aquarius, she has a donut-shaped floaty with a duck wearing a deerstalker cap and large flippers on her feet. She says "I may be out of my depth, but you'll find I swim just fine." Panel four shows a lineup of characters - form left to right: Aquarius, who is pointing at the mayor, a young boy with red hair, and a crudely drawn stick figure. Aquarius says "(1)It could have been you, Ms. Mayor. You were opposed to building the pool - but went with public opinion. (2)Byron here has been causing trouble all day. Murder is just a step away from running on the deck. (3) this guy is clearly from out of town." Panel five is a closeup of Aquarius pointing with her thumb to herself, smirking. "Maybe I DID IT, to give myself work!" Panel six shows Aquarius pointing behind her with her thumb to the pool she emerged from earlier. She says "But it was in fact NONE of these people. Your killer is HERE!" A page of comics with five panels. The first panel shows two cute characters in a town that all resembles Animal Crossing. One is a wolf in a ball cap and the other is a girl in a rainbow dress with pink hair and a unicorn horn. They are fishing in a tiny pond. The title text says "Mutuals by Darren Vogt and Amy Chase". The wolf is straining while pulling on the fishing pole, saying "almooooost" while the girl is covered in a glowing aura. Panel two shows a closeup of the cute monster-fish they pulled out of the water, and the two characters ball-shaped hands are in the air. The wolf says "Aha!" And the girl says "you got it!" A video game text box says "Fun Friendly Village World Quest Completed: The Reel Deal - Collect 5 fancy fish for old man Wembley". Panel three contains the two characters shaking hands (though their hands are circles) and she says "nice work there! Those spawn rates were so lucky." He says "well your CALM AURA BUFF helped make the skill checks easier." Panel four shows an alert screen pop up in front of the wolf - the girl asks "everything alright?" Panel four shows the girl filtered through the Wolf's red alert screen. He says "totally awesome. Just the ol' work bell chiming." A page of comics with seven panels. Panel one shows a man being surrounded in a grimy alleyway by five guys in red and black outfits, aprons, and bandana face-masks. They are all holding pizza cutters in their hands. They say "look what we got here!" And "a slice would be nice!" The main character says "Hey guys! I don't want any trouble." Another of the hooded men says "yeah, but trouble found you." Panel two shows the boss hooded man, with a cutter and a pizza peel, saying "you're on Brick Oven Boys' turf. You better have a good reason... or we get to SLICIN'." Panel three shows a close up of the main character's eyes, and he says "I-I-I'm looking for cheese." Panel four shows the boss again, saying "well why didn't you say so? We will certainly entertain some commerce... but we'll need something in exchange, of course." Panel five shows the main character reaching into his jacket and saying "of course. I have just the thing." Panel six shows the boss looking spooked, saying "nice and easy there, hot shot." Panel seven shows the main character pulling out a toy of a gnome holding a pizza in his hands. The boss looks at it, shocked and says "is that...?" The main character confirms "yes. A genuine RUFUS ROMANO limited edition figurine. Only available at select locations during the Romano Pizza 20th Anniversary Celebration."
I can't even begin to hypothesize who has that kind of many.
I chucked my phone off the balcony one. It barely dented the case I got from Redbubble.

Man. I miss having a balcony.

I'm Meggie, a queer nonbinary cartoonist from Michigan!

I'm the author of Batcat (book 4 out in April 2026), work as a graphic novel designer, and am tracking everything I read this year on Instagram and bluesky (I'm up to 290 books/comics!)

This thread is for October's reads:
I find it really impressive that Nick.com still has video clips, full episodes, articles, character bios, and even GAMES - some of which are based on 10+ year old shows.

Meanwhile cartoonnetwork.com just redirects to HBO Max where you can watch a whopping nine shows.
