The bird is holding a flowing Palestine flag within its beak and is holding an olive branch within its talons. This art piece is symbolic of Palestinian resistance and that one day Palestine will be free and truly find peace. And the watermelon represents resistance to censorship especially when the Palestinian flag was being censored online. The heart represents how Palestinians will always be within my heart and how resilient and strong you all are.

i was very freshly 18 (like only a week or so) when i endured that and that experience is still so raw for me; my heart really breaks knowing people are experiencing somehing like that and even worse w what i/ce is doing to people. we're not free until all of us are free

my roommate would be screaming in terror and nobody would help us, they'd just act annoyed with her. there was another girl who was so obviously scared too and screaming because they were giving her sedation forcibly. i hope she's doing ok nowadays, she was so so sweet once we were able to talk.

not being able to see the sun or go outside (if you went out itd be only 15 minutes w tall fences) being denied your needed medication (cold turkey off antidepressants), unsanitary conditions (they didnt provide changes of clothes), being treated like you're not even human by the staff

our liberation is truly interconnected. i was listening to experiences of people who were detained by i/ce and the conditions were so painfully similar to mistreatment i experienced when i was involuntarily admitted into a psych ward when i was just freshly 18
