For #Felcrown arc 2, as the gang investigates the missing teen, I am thinking they get the first clear view that this is a Big Thing and discover dozens more have disappeared, and that there is a larger conspiracy of a whole organization and not just a lone villain.

For my shipwrecked familiars, at the midpoint their mistresses are captured, they're wounded & surrounded by monsters. All seems hopeless. Phraxxiz tells Daryus how horrific the start of his afterlife was (he's a soul that was damned to be an imp), and Daryus sees the imp in a new light.

They are amazing! My family went there this past summer for the first time and I didn't do much research, so we saw them & were impressed. Then back at our hotel room we read up & realized we saw the SMALL falls and had to go back the next morning for the "looks like the world broke" larger falls! 🤣

Also in my fantasy adventure series, Felcrown, Luzz is a goblin dating a duergar dwarf. Mathematically, they are an age gap since he is 21 and she is in her 50s or 60s, but that is just because of different age rates among species.

Psychologically or maturity-wise, they are pretty close in age.

1st romance in my rock romance serial is age gap.

Kyle is 48 & Katie is 29 (but it takes a year for them to finally get together). Also, they later become a polycule with Rachel who is 26 at start of the series.

Kyle definitely is - when his depression gets out of the way and he realizes someone can be happy with him.

Wynne, his daughter, is as well, especially in getting others together, but soon for her own relationships as well. She's even a big Romance fiction fan.

With my fantasy romance about two familiars, Phraxxiz the imp lived in the Red Dusk of War, a plane of existence that is constant, unending war ranging from noble battles to (what Phraxxiz experienced) horrifying endless atrocities.

Just realized that all 3 of this week's Erryn/Rolfe snips are pieces of the same scene, and they're being presented exactly backward 🙃

Rolfe yanked at Erryn’s undershirt, and the kiss was broken just long enough to remove it. He felt Erryn’s lean body, smooth and lithe. Rolfe’s hands were broad and warm, and softer than one would expect for his line of work. Erryn pulled Rolfe’s shirt up and over his head, and both garments were discarded carelessly on the floor. Rolfe moved forward, pressing Erryn against the wall and kissing him deeply. Erryn may have stood taller than Rolfe, but he felt diminutive and malleable in Rolfe’s care.

Immediately following, however:
Pyntal: Fine. *lifts shirt*
Digs (now in flustered lesbian mode): Oh, ok. I'll lay my healing hands on you.😳

“Redsleeves is using her healing wand on Motayu but it might have enough charge left today to help you. Or… um… I think I can try my healing hands thing?”
“Are you sure Motayu won’t need it? I appreciate the offer, but he looked worse.”
Digs crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. “Pyntal Tilliwic, we are not going to tolerate one of our friends refusing to take care of herself. You have already bled through those bandages. We need to do something.”

This scene struck me so hard, I had to get a draft of it down even as I was still working on the plot. Pyntal is returning from an exhausting 3-day basic training extended mission, but in true team of heroes fashion, they are all ride-or-die for each other.

Pyntal lurched towards the elevator. Every muscle ached. Her feet swelled painfully in her boots. She was tempted to curl up and sleep a while in the nearest hallway.
The ogre cranked the lift’s gear far too slow for her liking, but she had to keep moving only a little bit longer. Then that blessed stiff bed.
She unbuckled the chest piece of leather armor and felt able to breathe deeply for the first time in three days. Her boots became too much and she peeled them off as she walked through the crowds to her home.
The scent made her, as well as several other passersby, wince, but the coolness of the stone on her bare feet and the ability to wiggle and stretch her toes was delightfully worth it.
She opened the door and heard movement back in the office. “I am so sorry for my stench, everyone, but I have got to sleep first—”
The look on their faces as she rounded the corner stopped her cold.
Everyone was here, even Luzz and Motayu. They were gearing up their full assortment of armor and weapons with death in their eyes. They were preparing to kill… and preparing to die.
Digs fastened her breastplate with the help of Redsleeves. “It’s good to see you, Pyntal. We were just heading out, but you… you should rest. I…” Her eyes wanted to say so much, but her heart kept it within. “You should rest.”
Pyntal asked, “That missing boy?”

“And over seventy more,” Luzz answered. His pick ax rested on his shoulder. His eyes sank to the floor, unable to hold Pyntal’s gaze.
Pyntal pulled her boots back on, doing her best not to grunt in pain, but failing.
“Pin, what are you doing?” Digs asked.
The svirfneblin stood up straight and stomped to get her swollen feet fully back into the boots. Then she removed the scabbard that held her wooden practice blade. “I know that look. There is no way you are going into this without me. I’ve got your back. Hey, Azzerrad, sword, please.”
Digs’s forehead furrowed with worry. One glance from Pyntal tore that worry away. There was fire in the gnome’s heart and no one was going to stop her.
Azzerrad lifted her scabbard and sword off the rack and tossed it to her. She laced her belt through its loop. “Is this rescue or revenge?” she asked.
“With luck and if we’re in time,” Digs said. “Both.”
“Good. Give me details on the way.” Everyone else appeared ready, so Pyntal refastened her belt and turned to the door. Then, letting out a breath first, she began working on the buckles for her chest armor.
Digs stepped up behind her, placing her hand on a shoulder. “Thank you.”

#Felcrown arc 2 ending will be typical for a #DnD inspired story - the heroes going into a big climatic battle against an evil creature that seems too powerful for them.

Somewhat spoilery snippet below because I actually wrote part of this. Only a bit of the mystery is revealed, however.
