Talia doesn't want us to save democracy, she wants to make sure the people who show up to protests are still people she wants to date. I'm going to keep observing this about everyone who posts stuff like this, because it's true. These people are socialites, not activists.

it's remarkable how bad they are at public messaging the moment they have power, almost as if they're increasingly an insular party with an inner committee that plots and schemes all of national policy under the influence/leadership of a cult of personality.

The servicemembers who are conducting these strikes need to be told, explicitly, by Dems in Congress that they have criminal liability, because they do

Trump has no legal authority, "standing" or otherwise, to order the killing of people in international waters for unsubstantiated accusations of non-capital crimes.

Calling them "narcoterrorists" does not make it right or legal to order their deaths without any due process.

not that those of us in the bar ever cover ourselves in glory, but I don’t see how we rebuild confidence in or integrity of the law without a whole lotta disbarment
verynormalguy.bsky.social
it’s a pretty big problem for the bar that a whole lotta the lawyers working for the feds or mil have almost necessarily engaged in some amount of misconduct to keep their jobs

all magazines must be shut down. all magazine editors and writers go straight to prison. too many of you have fallen for the katherine dees of the world, and she, specifically, makes it really easy to figure her whole deal.

katherine dee is herself a reactionary who has written for TERF blog fairer disputations. her bio there cites her work at american conservative, unherd, and the washington examiner. interesting how the bio she chose here doesn’t reflect that bias. the work itself features no actual citations

to the editors of the atlantic, my offer: you stop publishing stupid bullshit and shut your dumbass magazine down, i will not support sending you all to prison

Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

Now, more than ever, it's important to understand why so many the myths we tell ourselves about immigration are actually very harmful.

First of all, your great-great-grandparents names *were not changed* at Ellis Island. No one there had the authority to do that.

“how silly of you, you haven’t looked at the consolidated statutes of 1897 to see that immigration officers, in fact, had no authority to change names! how are they changing names without statutory authority and funding”

Despite what some, including at DHS, are claiming, this video isn’t from a year ago in Chicago. It was Friday in Hoffman Estates, in my district, a street I’ve walked myself. It appears to show a child being violently detained by ICE. It’s real, and I’m demanding accountability.
