Former Vallejo Police Activities League executive director Michael Kollar died last week at the age of 84. He was a Vallejo police officer for 30 years, led the PAL for over 40 years and was inducted into the Vallejo Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

In 2020, the pandemic led to a massive crime spike nationwide, including a 133% increase in homicides in Vallejo.

Five years later, crime has mostly declined to pre-pandemic levels. But in Vallejo it remains far higher than the national average.

The looming closure of the Valero refinery in Benicia comes as a shock to numerous nonprofits in the area.

Renia Lewis, 28, went missing on Friday, setting off a frantic search.

Solano County has agreed to pay a 'historic' $17 million settlement to Nakia Porter and her father, who sued the county after two Solano sheriff deputies dragged Porter from her car and beat her unconscious while stopped on a road near Dixon in 2020.

After months of delays, the Solano County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an amended contract on Tuesday that will allow deputies from the Solano County Sheriff’s office to aid in Vallejo policing operations beginning Jan.1.
