Most books I read about nature, the outdoors and in particular mountains - and I read a helluva lot of them - are mind-opening and nurture my soul. But not many make me lol in a good way. So I went on a hunt, seeking out the ingredients to a wholesome yet side-achingly ripper of a read. Here it is

Reform candidate visibly squirms as he's confronted by a local family in Caerphilly.
👏 "We've lived here all our lives. And I have never felt so unwelcome in my own hometown as I do since your party came into Caerphilly."

"With all the rhetoric that you bring in, I have to say to my sons, please don't go there. Please don't do this."

"I blame you for that."
Agree Jo, and maybe dare I say boosting Cognition and Learning, as this covers a little bit more than, we, phonics.
Thankfully not the set for Ridley Scott's forthcoming post apocalyptic film!!!!
Lump it into the danger zone with emphasis on reacting quickly to the second ball. Already seeing this at Spurs with the long throw. Not long now till we have the stat x2B😂
It doesn't make any sense to overfocus at the individual word level when a child like your son is already there. Another analogy - 😁 - is that you wouldn't show a climber how he could have used his equipment to secure himself over a section of a cliff that he can easily scramble. Just daft.

NEW POST: The Government must acknowledge and act on the devastating “double disadvantage” impact of poverty and SEND policies says a new report from @suttontrust.bsky.social www.specialneedsjungle.com/g...
image shows the report cover plus a colourised image of three school children
I found out today that crocodiles can never stick out their tongues, a group of flamingoes is called a flamboyance, it's physically impossible for pigs to look up at the sky (no star gazing), and a snail can take three whole years to have a nap. I wish I'd known when I was a kid. Can't wait to share
Agree. Phonics to reading is like touch typing is to being a good writer.
Dreadful. If ever you needed a case for the chancellor to introduce a wealth tax and for council tax to be abolished altogether...
💬 “The system shouldn’t force parents to pay to get the support their children need.”

The Government's proposals for SEND reform are coming out very soon.

Urgent action is needed to tackle the huge socio-economic disparities in the system ⤵️

It won't be long before we get expected dives (xD), where a player should have gone down when tackled robustly or unfairly. Expected cards (xC) will follow, where the ref should've handed out a card for an offence but shied away from it because the player is a popular lad, the England captain...
These are modern day riches of strength and depth the 00s and earlier decades of England supporters could never have envisioned. Our World Cup tournament progression out of the group stages always finely balanced on whether a Beckham or a Rooney would have a fit toe before the final game.
And, going forward, a helpful requirement of the government's communications team!
They clearly don't have 'A level standard English'!!!
In a kind of social Darwinist way I'm guessing.
Interesting. Did you come across any content in these authors' stories that either overtly echoed or hinted at eco-fascist beliefs? Maybe a bit too early in the century for that to be a theme?
Sorry to hear, Dan. Same! Get well soon. First episode of Riot Women, taken in bed, stronger painkiller than Lemsip Max, As weak As I am...

For accessibility, perfect video of folks holding signs that say "this is fascism" with various definitions:
* using secret police
* denying reality with constant lies
* controlling media
* normalizing corruption
* rejecting election results
* controlling education
* using military on civilians 1/3
Some great research out there on nature connectedness and the effects on children's cognitive skills and wellbeing. Plus the joy of course. Though think Sheffield is a more credible neighbour as the finest city 😉
