Oct 15, 1950 Truman arrived where he was greeted on the tarmac by MacArthur. MacArthur shook hands with the President rather than salute, which Omar Bradley considered "insulting". The meeting, which had no agenda, took the form of a free-wheeling discussion. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_Is...

[August 2nd, 1980] Terry Fox, a cancer survivor, is halfway through his cross-Canada run to raise $10 million for cancer research. Despite the heat and long distances, he feels strong and says the experience is not as hard as fighting cancer. He averages 40 km/day, raising $1,250,000 so far.

Arriving in the #ableg press gallery a few years later, I saw both @donbraid.bsky.social and Don Getty close up.
Decent, yes, but as premier, the Gipper wasn't blessed with the ability to improve on the super-star Peter Lougheed during a rough economy. Held the PC fort until next-star Ralph Klein.
[October 13th, 1985] Don Getty won the Tory leadership race, promising to address farm issues, unemployment, and party unity. He plans to form a strong agriculture committee and remove provincial taxes on farm inputs.

Among all those hockey, baseball, soccer and football championships, one team may stand above them all.
It was the most dominant team in our history.
This is the story of The Edmonton Grads.
