by the way bro, just because you have an off day sharing your work, shitposting, or whatever, doesn't mean you've fallen off or people are ignoring you. Not everything can hit and pop off. Numbers fluctuate. It's random luck. Try not to let something out of your control affect your mental.

They'd been walking for hours through the narrow stone corridors, the only sound the echo of their boots and the low hum of Arn's cybernetics. The light from Brey'enne's wrist-lamp glinted off the metal plates that traced his ribs and shoulders where the cloak fell away.
She stopped suddenly. "You ever make noise just to remind yourself you're still... human?"
He turned, brow furrowing. "What do you mean?" She reached out, tapping her finger lightly against the durasteel plating near his collar. "This. The hum.The clicking. You sound like a power relay on legs." Arn's eye flickered, amusement ghosting through his tone. "You've been spending too much time around slicers.'
"Maybe." She tilted her head, stepping closer. "Just trying to figure out where the man ends and the machine starts."
He didn't move away. "Does it matter?"
"Maybe not," Her voice softened, her hand lingering near the seam where flesh met metal. "But I think you're more human than most of the people I know." Arn held her gaze - steady, unreadable, yet something in his posture shifted. "That's dangerous talk, coming from a spy."
"I Guess I like danger, just like my dad."
They stood like that for a moment, close enough that the faint mechanical hum seemed to sync with the rhythm of her breathing. Then he broke eye contact, turning away.
"We should keep moving," he said quietly.
She smirked. "Sure. Lead the way, half-man." He shot her a look over his shoulder. "Careful. I can still crush you."

Brey'enne walked a slow circle around Arn, her lamp tracing pale light across his cybernetic frame. Her curiosity was getting the better of her.
"So, you're what... sixty percent metal? Seventy?"
"Closer to seventy," he replied evenly.
"Hmm. I don't know, the way you move... you've got more machine grace than human clumsiness."
Arn gave her a sidelong look. "Is that a compliment?"
"Maybe," she said, smirking. "I'm just wondering how much of you still... works."
He blinked once, processors clicking faintly. "Define
'works.""
"Oh, I think you know what I mean."
Arn's mouth twitched - the faintest ghost of a smile.
He might be a cyborg, but he still had a human brain with all of its feelings and logic. "You really don't have boundaries, do you?"
"Boundaries are for people who follow orders," she said, stepping ahead of him. "I just follow curiosity." He sighed, the servos in his chest humming. "Then let's hope curiosity doesn't get you electrocuted." She shot him a grin over her shoulder. "Don't worry.
I've handled worse shocks."
Brey'enne paused as Arn tilted his head slightly, eyes unfocused. The dim blue glow from his remaining eye brightened, casting faint halos on the walls.
"What is it?" she asked quietly.
He didn't answer right away. "There's movement. Not footsteps... vibration. Mechanical, faint, like something remembering it used to be alive."
She frowned, sweeping her wrist light along the carved walls. "That's poetic and disturbing." Arn's tone dropped, quieter. "It's both. The metal down here... it hums with memory. Old programming
- broken, fragmented. But I can also hear something beneath it — heartbeats. Not human. Slower." Brey'enne stepped closer. "You can tell that from this far away?"

Caul nodded. “Yes, the same way McLellan got into the Bridge when the power was out.”
Toren felt the smile growing. “Pressure circuit! Okay lets try to frazzle that fucker in there. Best bet is behind the head plate I guess?”
He looked to Elara who nodded, “There is some exposed wiring back there. Best case we kill it, worst case we piss it off.”
He was gripping the tablet tight as he guided the Vole back out of the vent. “Come on you little bastard!” He aimed at the unsuspecting Android, still curled up on the charging pad. The Vole raced across the deck until it was level with the neck of the curled machine. The shock prongs extended until they almost touched a series of cables behind the white faceplate.
“Here goes nothing!”
A dazzling flare of light blocked out the sensors on the camera. The screen went black before details slowly filled in again, digitised breakup filled the screen. Through the broken lines of picture, Toren saw movement.
Suddenly the camera was violently thrown backwards and the image blinked out. The directional controls went grey on screen.
“Well,” he started, “we did something.”
Elara nodded slowly. “Let’s go find out what.”
She looked at Kaili, then at Toren. He shook his head. Before she could ask the question, he said, “She’s coming with us.”

Constance Blake is dreaming/reminiscing about her husband, who's currently away on a dangerous mission.

From my new WIP #Charagma, a SFF dystopia where all people are born saved or damned, & the Elect have a holy mark on their forehead.

She hadn’t planned what else she would say to him after that, so without another word she’d stood up and left him alone. Part of her had felt like the biggest fool in Arx Lucis. But another part had also felt elated, thrilled merely to have spoken a handful of the words that had been boiling inside her for weeks. And a third, secret part of her had felt triumphantly satisfied—had sat quietly back to wait—certain she’d begun a ripple effect in him that wouldn’t settle.
Sure enough, the next time the class was required to do a long recitation, he had come to her and asked if, perhaps, she might like to practice her prayers with him. And they’d never prayed with anyone but each other from that day onward.
“Give me a prayer, Elis,” she whispered to him now.
He began to recite a psalm about the sea, about a ship adrift on a stormy sea, asking El to shine his light and guide the ship to safe harbor. Constance was the ship, and Elis was the ship too, and they were each other’s harbors, and the sounds of the prayer were the movements of the ocean. She began to recite it with him, their whispers blending together as they formed words so familiar they were more like the notes of a bird’s song, empty of meaning but full of the soul of creation. And when the prayer was finished, she pulled him down to her and kissed him long and deep, and her heart groaned with how much she missed him.
He isn’t really here.

“I promise to do my best.” He performed then a most strange movement: he touched his fist to his open hand and, closing his eyes, bent his upper body until it was almost parallel to the ground.

“Why do you submit? Had I wished for you as a slave, I would have defeated you in combat, not willingly allowed you a place in our alliance.”

Smoke quickly straightened. He glanced at Sareena, who hid a smile behind her arm. “I… that’s a gesture of respect!”

“That is the gesture of a coward who lacks the fortitude to stand against his enemies. Any devil would bind you to servitude.” Ashrah showed him the tip of her sword. “I am not any devil. Do that again, and I will cleave your head asunder.”
