I, an ancestral Canadian, had my first Canadian Thanksgiving in Paris because the only bar showing the OU-Texas game when I was there for work was a Canadian bar that was hosting a Canadian Thanksgiving that week and they felt sorry for me because it was the HQ of the Texas Exes of France.

I'm remembering a trip to Santa Fe in 1996 where my parents met up with friends from Iowa that they hadn't seen since 1982 based on a Christmas card newsletter blurb about a trip they planned to take that fall that the friends sent out.
