my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

What do you mean there's a guy named "Coyote Shivers" in the movie?

Aw yeah, spread those Canadian fan visits out across 81 home games, not just the blue jays trips to Seattle that turn T-Mobile into a very polite mosh pit.

(haven't listened to the audiobook, so can't vouch for the quality of the narrator's performance)

Blackstone Audio has an audiobook of the David Ross translation, which is the same as the Oxford Classics print edition. I'm not sophisticated enough to tell you if that's the best version, but it was good enough for me.

5 (mostly short) books i'd assign for HS english to get kids stoked about books:
1) Beowulf --> Gardner's Grendel
2) Hyperion
3) Trout Fishing in America
4) Piranesi
5) All the King's Men

Part of the problem is that a hop bomb can conceal shitty brewing. Turbo IPAs: the beer of choice for brewery owners who suck at their jobs.

The Norton Critical edition of Moby Dick is *very* good. And cheap!

Watching the Canadian broadcast of the Ms game, and every other ad is "we are a CANADIAN company, buy with us because we're NOT AMERICAN."

Not sure how the US comes back from that anytime soon.

If Jorge Polanco keeps doing this, he gets a statue in front of the stadium.

That would be wild. As if Andre the Giant weren't already sympathetic, what if he was experiencing The Fear in addition to chronic pain?

Now that short stories don't really pay, and don't really have a popular audience, there's not much reason to write them except for the expedience of having a "complete" work to talk about in your MFA class.

Terry Pratchett has a handful of Young Reader books, both in and outside of Discworld. The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents + Wee Free Men (and the rest of the Tiffany Aching books). All excellent.

Dinotopia (all books) by James Gurney. Astonishingly beautiful illustrations, too.

Not as broad as "learn philosophy" but I just had to figure this out with a friend who said "I want to learn Ethics" and the answer I came to was Sandel's "Justice: A Reader" which has well-chosen primary texts, supporting his well-produced lecture series.
