Like Im sorry I thought a remake of RE2 would be a remake of RE2 and not a remake of RE2 and Darkside Chronicles but much worse in the story department.

Even though Darkside clearly changed tge train escape into a fight where you decouple the train so if their were 2 players they could both be involved and it also means both characters are involved equally. The Marshalling yard being cut is also from DSC as are the expanded sewers.

Instead 2R decides to lift the plot of Annette going after William but changed it so Annette doesn't love her husband and seemingly dies and doesn't care about Sherry even though her motivation is supposed to be to protect Sherry??? The train fight is also lifted from DSC.

The Biggest missed opportunity though is that 2R decided to go with a cheesey absolute garbage nonsensical ending that doesn't fit the tone of the game and sets up nothing for CV or even RE4 unlike Darkside which has a far more somber ending and shows Leon being "recruited" by the US government.

Annette is hunting down William to try to protect Sherry but is still sad about it. Chief Irons isn't a bumbling oaf with completely nonsensical and incomprehensible motivations. Ada doesn't magically survive falling off a bridge into a giant pit.

And they didn't even lift the best parts of Darkside Chronicles for 2R! Claire and Leon's interactions are great in Darkside, they feel very in line with their characterisation in og RE2. Leon gets to interact with Sherry more. Annette isn't wishy washy on helping Sherry, she still loves William.

I can't think about RE2R's plot or I get genuinely pissed off lol.

I think they just thought they wouldn't make money. That's why classic RE4 is still easily available, its still a great seller.
tanzerart.bsky.social
People are still gonna buy the remakes, the modern controls and graphics are genuinely a big enough pull for that plus they call 2R and 3R reimaginings and have publicly said they don't replace the originals but didn't actually care enough to have the classics available legally??? Bizzare.

At least 3R didn't try to lift plot elements from Umbrella Chronicles, like can you imagine Nemmy dying by falling off a roof lol? Why the fuck did 2R take inspiration from Darkside Chronicles? Its supposed to be a reimagining of og re2 but somehow content from the Wii on rails shooter makes it in?

I fucking knew Capcom were trying to replace the classic RE trilogy with the remakes, which makes the issues with 2R and 3R even worse. You need to be familiar with og re2's story to make sense of the gaps in 2R's plot and 2R still doesn't line up correctly with re6 since Leon doesn't save Sherry!

The training facility does have an excellent atmosphere, RE0's presentation is top tier.

She's really unsettling but I also feel super bad for her too

Yeah I've got faith RE9 will deliver on scares. Also lmao I just realised I accidentally typed re6 instead of re7, the only scares I got from RE6 was the horror that this is where RE had ended up.

I think I'm too fond of Nemesis to find him scary anymore even if he's stressful to deal with lol, Im like oh hey theres Nemmy. With Mr X Im more like, this fuckin guy again.

There's several moments in REmake and RE6 that gave me a huge sense of dread, House Beneviento is also a good choice for this too. Og RE2 scared the shit out of me as a child but I'd say Mr X is more of a stress causer than actually scary lol.

OG RE2 gave me nightmares as a child for months lol. When I first played RE7 I remember Jack smashing through a wall like Mr X in and Mia crawling up the stairs made me jump.

Yeah it certainly takes the horror aspect away when your protagonist dies cool flips while saying I've liners lol. RE7 was super creepy to play through, the 1st person perspective definitely adds to the fear factor and it was nice to have a normal protagonist again.

I heard the reason Village is noticably less scarier is because Japanese audiences found RE7 to be too terrifying lol. It's so stressful on a first playthrough.

What Resident Evil game do you consider to be the scariest in the series? For me personally it's a toss up between REmake and RE7.

to silent hill or raccoon city still a dilemma

I hope instead of the steady, smooth animations and controls they had in the og games they control like a shopping trolley with a wheel missing.

I sometimes read old gaming magazines and stumbled upon this "babe of the year" section from Playstation: The Official Magazine.

If I was the editor I would have gently suggested this writer be put down like a rabid dog
