Ah we have a team of 4 trying, but all being working adults we barely get time to give it a go. I've been farming armour sphere's all week and trying it solo to practise dodging, but it all feels pretty hopeless, we barely make it to phase 2.

Did you beat regular? I still haven't. I'm starting to think it's not worth it unless you've been farming armour cores since launch, or switch axe is just a bad matchup. I can barely hit the damn thing it's legs move so much.

Oh I forgot to add how he survived-
On the boat the captain took an annoyed-pity on him, and gave him enough easy chores to distract him from the symptoms, even if it made Rene hate him. Then when they reached eorzea he affectionately told him to get lost.

Mind you I have like three rock bottoms in mind. The other was when he had to escape dalmasca, and had to leave each of his adopted parents to die to garlean hands and could do nothing about it.

I'm playing with that when Rene lived in kugane and then left after the calamity, he'd gotten semi-addicted to smoking there, vague fantasy drug whatever ff has. He didn't realise how bad it was till he had to survive withdrawal on the month boat journey to eorzea. Avoiding jumping into the sea.
